ok, ive tried posting this on another forum but got no responses, i guess no one knew? i am trying to find out my bodyfat as close as i can, and want to know if a large amount of lose skin will affect the calipers by a lot, i lost from 350 to 180 in less than a year (been steady at 180 for a while now) and before i buy some so i can check it i wanted to know if they would actually work for me, or if i might need to go see a specialist for this sort of thing.

here is an example of how much skin there is, its easily visible.

An amazing transformation. Congrats. Yea I am pretty sure loose skin would affect the readings, but you could still get fairly close. It looks like you under 10% easily. In my own experience calipers get less accurate as you get leaner and leaner because you loose fat from other parts of your body other than your stomach fat.

I don't know how much they will affect it but I must say you did some awsome work...congrats. Are you considering surgery for the loose skin or just going to let it heal naturally?

PS: You look very lean as it is...

The loose skin cannot heal naturally. Only way to reverse that is with surgery.

@kracin,

Congratz on your work, bro. Very impressive!

To a certain extent it will go back...just not 100%.

yeah, its come back a tiny bit, but im not counting on it completely. but i never rush into things before i do them, just want to get down to the lowest bf i can before i get surgery so i can get the most skin removed without havin to worry about having fat interfering

you sure about under 10%?? i dont feel that way lol..... and i heard something once about special water tanks designed to measure body fat that were inaccurate by about only 1-2%, anyone else know any other accurate ways to measure i could do?

Thats a hydrostatic weighting for the body fat...its the most acurate form of measuring your bf.

ok guys
his main question was if he needs to see a specialist to get his bodyfat test done.. or can he do it on his own?

I just did hydrostatic weighing about 2 weeks ago. Try contacting universities in your area. Most have the appropriate testing facilities. Also, certain health clubs will do it for a fee if they have the equipment (I got mine done at a health club). There is also the bodpod, which uses similar concepts, but uses air displacement vs. water.

There might be one in your area.
