How much trouble would I get in...

If I had a knife in my gym bag? This guy and 6 of his friends started coming to my gym. This kid hates me, I could take all of those kids (one on one) but not all 7. If I'm alone in the locker room with them I don't know what would happen. I'm not switching gyms either. Any other idea's welcome.

That would be a big mistake, my nephew did the same thing for the same reason and wound up getting in trouble.
They did nothing to the other guys.

Unless you know how to use a knife, and arent afraid to kill someone.. then dont take it. Maybe do as Prince said, and get some mace. However, if you spray it in a small room or confined quarters, it will get you too.

No, it's a regular gym. I figure no one would mess with a guy that has a 12 inch knife. I wouldn't fight a guy if one of my friends might die.

I carry what I've dubbed my "Bitch-Be-Good stick." It's a retractable police-style steel baton. Came in handy once when a guy wanted to stop in the middle of the road and hold up traffic because he was drunk and thought he was a badass.

Just avoid going into the locker room while he's there, the best self defense move is to avoid confrontation all together. Do you need to go to the locker room at all, I never used a gym locker room. My gym trunks had zippable pockets for my ziplock bag of protein, house key and wallet and I carried a bottle that I filled with water at the fountain.

Dont try and use a knife to seem tougher... its always a bad idea.

The guy that lives in the apartment next door pulled a big kitched knife on some kids that were at a party in our building (the college kids had been turning off the electricity to the building). Anyways, dumb ass pulled a knife on them and they took it away and beat his ass pretty bad. There was a pool of blood about 5ft sq in the parking lot where they had left him bleeding.

A knife isnt that kinda tool. I'd recommend mace if you really feel like you need something, but either way if they start anything just tell the gym and if they keep it up report it to the police.

I have to use the locker room, if I don't I have to carry my coat and gym bag around, that would probably get the workers to ask why I don't use the locker room and if I said I don't want to get my ass kicked they would make it worse.

I agree, besides if he does use the knife on them he will get charged with assault. Self defense is hard to prove.

Who would start a fight 7 vs 1 that they can't win? Would that really be hard to prove, of course with some of the lawsuits I've seen lately I wouldn't be surprised.

Ditto to most everyone.

In one aspect, you should think of a knife like a gun.. Dont use it to intimidate someone, only pull it if you plan to kill them.. And of course, after you pull it, give them a chance to reconsider, lol.

Secondly: Unlike a gun, a knife wont intimidate somebody, lol. Ive had two incidents to see this happen, in both cases they took the 'Ill be a badass' route and just became more agressive,"You gonna stab me, bitch? Come on pussy, do it!" One got his ass kicked like in Eggs' story, the other folded and crawled off with the little pride he had left, lol.

Im going to support the pepperspray suggestion, but that baton would be better than a pipe

Now, If you really want a knife, Im going to suggest the KA-BAR, or the Seal Knife 2000. A bit pricey, but good to learn with until you can decide on the design to use for the custom knife/knives you'll make for yourself later.

I've had years of self defense...but 7 guys... They are all about 5'8 130 pounds 11%BF execpt the one who I had problems with. He's like 5'6 180, very fat and weak. He got pinned under 135 for one rep. Didn't get it off his chest one inch. I'm not much bigger myself though, about 150 9% BF.

Oh, and another downside... if you use it, there are going to be cops involved. Theres no spraying somebody in the locker room and then just walking away. Best bet would be to just tell one of the bigger staff members your problem if they start harassing you.

About a year ago I had a group of freinds that I hung around with but, there was one guy who gradually took a disliking to me. He took every opprotunity to make my life miserable, for instance: We were all at a party and tried (unsucessfully) to tell everyone there that I was gay, and he wouldn't shut up, just kept on going on and on trying to make me look as bad as possible. I usually just ignored him, but on that night I was so very close to beating his ass, yet I refrained to the disbelief of everyone there. I wracked my brain the next day thinking of why I didn't do a thing , I mean I was 16/6'4 and he was 18/5'7 and he didn't do any weightlifting at all. About a week later he came over to my friends house and right off the start we had a verbal altercation so I took him outside broke 2 of his fingers/nose, swift kick in the balls, black eye and other assorted injuries. It was pretty stupid of myself but nothing happened and he moved away about 2 weeks later and not another word was said between us. Be a man get the job done.

I think they are all on the wrestling team (not sure they go to another high school). I don't think they will stop coming to the gym because you have to work out if your on a team. At least at my school you do. The gym I go has you sign up for at least a year too.

You've mentioned you don't want to do anything unless you feel threatened. This post is all about how to deal with the threat you now feel. If he is in your zone making you uncomfortable then talk to him.

Be nice ... tell 'em that what ever BS went on before is all old news and you'd rather put that dumb shit behind you so you can just enjoy life without all that negative crap ... and be nice. If he still acts like a tool then you have taken the high road ... now it's time to NOT be nice. He sees that you'll put up with his bullying tactics then he and his friends will all turn you into their personal victim for as long as you let it happen.

It's my experience that providing a reason for a person to go get a partial plate creates a profound change in their behavior. Once it's time to not be nice, after you've taken the high road ... get old school on 'em and give the chump a real good down home style ass whoopin' and make a statement. Fear generates respect.

You have no experience drawing blood with a weapon and it shows. It is not something you want to do as a human being ... that shows too. These guys will see that in you ... your threat will not get perceived that way you think it might.

We lost an IM member recently because he got into an altercation with a weapon. He was beaten to death. That's him in the photo below ... he was also a large strong guy. For you to use a weapon as a bluff may start a chain of events that could very surely spin beyond your control and from which you could end up doing a prison stretch as you spend time morning your part in someone's death ... or worse your family could have to endure the soul wracking pain of morning you at your grave.

In Texas Hold 'Em you run a bluff go all in and lose it's just chips and money ... part of the fun and part of the game. No big loss. In real life you NEVER run a bluff with a weapon of any kind that you can't pull out of.

It's a partial denture that provides missing teeth like a full set of dentures would. Fits in the roof of the mouth and fills the gap left from the teeth that were knocked out.

m8 its not worth it do as bone crusher says and speak to him first if he is still a prick then its time to get serious, you know how strong he is from him being in the gym and generally just looking how built and athletic he appears if he does. so if you can take him find him by him self and give him a good smack in the face, then maybe throw in a couple more after but make them hard then he will know what hes up against and will probably back out

i came close to hitting a bloke out side college as some people on here know, but i was bigger man as i knew i could beat him i told him to piss of and left it as that, was hard realy wanted to go fer him and kick his lights out but at end of the day try and sort things out the easy and calm way first only resort to physical violence if absalutly nesecerry plus flex said he would of him for me anyway

Now, This is where I was wrong- I was going to say if you get your Concealed Carry Weapons permit, you could carry any legal weapon you wanted; concealed, at that. This is untrue, apparently.

From what Ive read, a CCW ONLY applies to handguns(I figured it meant all weapons.. hence the name..) So it is illegal to carry, concealed, a knife or any deadly weapon(except a handgun, with permit). However you CAN, apparently, carry them in the open.

Anyways, heres the resource I was using.. If you decide to carry any weapon, you'd be better off not breaking the law.
