Hi

I did a really good workout on tuesday on my legs using the squat machine, calf raise and leg extension using heavy weights and 10 reps on each.On wednesday my legs were quite sore but nothing to be annoyed about but today i went to get out of bed and my legs were so sore i couldn't hold my weight and had to get back into bed,i have missed a day off scholl because i physically can't walk!!!

Did i hit them too hard?

Chris

Sounds like you just started working legs hard...as in literally the first or second day you've seriously started working on them. You should probably ease them into your routine with a medium workout just to get them used to it. Then blast them starting a couple weeks later when they don't cripple you afterwards. It usually takes 36 to 48 hours for full soreness to develop after a good workout...so you're experiencing the fruit of your labor right on schedule.

did you stretch you legs out well after the training session ?

I walk to class with my legs like that, get used to it.

Yes, it's perfectly natural.

If you're looking for some added fun, do a dropset of squats.

Wait till you have to go take a dump. Squatting down to the toilet seat is LOADS of fun. You'll wish you had handicapped grab bars in your bathroom.

P.S. That soreness is completely normal. You'll actually grow to love it. It's called D.O.M.S. Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. It's not a very accurate measure of how effective your training is, but it sure feels good.

The squatting down part isn't too bad, since you have gravity helping. It's the getting back up part that's a pain in the ass.

no LAM i didn't stretch afterwards but i will now!!!Yeah it is the first time i have hit legs HARD,real hard!!!Once i have been walking for a while it is okay but as soon as i sit down and try and get back up i have to stand on tip toes and gradually lower until my feet are flat on the floor because when my feet are flat on the floor i can feel the worst strecth/soreness!!!So i bring my feet to the flat position gradually!

Stretching and contrast showers should help reduce the onset of soreness after your next leg workouts. There's not much that can be done about it now. Here is an article that lists a few other methods to help you recover faster:
