Ive picked up the past few issues of Muscle Fitness magazine and they seem to stresss mixing up your workout and weights to avoid plateus. My question is...

I havent hit a plateu yet but I still do the same exact workouts. Should I mix it up or wait until I slow down?

Muscle and fiction probably doesn't have a lot of fans here. But mixing it up is key

Muscle & Fitness hasn't been good since about 1988, most of the info is useless and surely not revolutionary in any way.

if you are making gains with your current routine there is no reason to change it. if it's not broken, don't fix it.

Most bodybuilders like to belittle mass publications.

Mix it up. Arnold suggests this in his encyclopedia and most bodybuilders with impressive physiques will tell you the same. Every day you go in there, change things up a bit in different ways. Here's some ideas:

1. Change the order that you do your exercises in to keep the body guessing.
2. Change the intensity...do some supersets, pyramids, etc.
3. Add in or change out exercises to hit the same muscles from diff angles.

You can do all the above easily and every time you walk in the gym, yet still measure progress in your routine. I bet you'll notice immediately the extra soreness you'll feel.

i would not change you routine if its working for you, thats just stupid.

also, i would try to keep your workout intense, everytime your in the gym

Right. It's stupid because every experienced bodybuilder with many years of experience will tell you variety can only help you make great gains. This coming from a 16 year old with how many years of experience?

There's no point in changing your routine if you are making gains. There's nothing wrong with waiting until your gains start to taper off or plateau completely before making changes. Progressive resistance is enough of a shock to the body to promote hypertrophy.

variety does help when your training routine calls for a change. otherwise there is absolutely no need to stop because you will make gains by progressing the resistance.

were not talkin about experience were talkin about facts

It's not a mental thing. Your body physically adapts to a routine.
