I'm cutting & I need something very quick and easy for those rare days when I'm running late, & there is literally NO time to microwave anything. Just a grab n go. I've been having Slim Fast Breakfast Bar made w/ Splenda.

I've heard you guys talk about Kashi Go Lean stuff, but their bars have 35 grams of sugar in them!

why not get some kashi go lean cereal or fiber one... oats anything, put however much you need in a baggy, and eat it dry... you can chase it with some milk or a protein shake.... that sounds pretty simple and quick to me.

I enjoy the body for life bar. Phillips did his homework on this one. It has great taste and a perfect balance. But I guess it's what you like that it really boils down to. Good luck on that. i know how those days are.

Gotta be something I can eat on the go. Like in the car. Pretty hard to drive while I'm trying to put on my makeup, talk on my cell phone, change the cd in the cd changer, change lanes on the highway and give the driver I just cut off a friendly finger. And then I gotta be diggin' in a zip lock baggy for a handful of cereal?! Pish posh!
(I AM just joshin' people.)
I actually despise those women trying to put on lipstick or whatever in the middle of driving! Or rude cell phone talkers! Gggggrrrrrrrrrr
I will check out the B4L bar though. Thanks!

LOL i was so about to jump all over you. I can't stand people that do that crap and drive like 30 mph in a 60 talking on the phone or doing other stuff.

You could always make your own, there are plenty of recipes available. Just make em' the night before.

I want to, but I could only find recipes w/ honey or tons of PB in them, or recipes that just sound nasty.
These Slim Fast bars are YUMMY, low calorie, almost no sugar & decent protein.

my mom has some but haven't tried one. My cousin ate one and said they where good. I think she has the PB kind. You could always substitute some of the ing. for something else.

What about making a shake and taking it in a shaker bottle - something with a combination of some (or all) of the following:
ground oats
protein powder
skim milk
PB
Blueberries/fruits
ff/sf yoghurts
There are also some bars that you can make that are not just PB and honey and that are much better for you than anything that comes out of a factory.
eg:
Oats/oatbran
Egg whites
C.cheese
Applesauce (unsweetened)
Protein powder
vanilla essence
cinnamon
Another option would be to take an apple, some walnuts and a shake...

Got the shake, got the apples & all the other stuff. How do you cook those protein bars? They sound like they'd be yummy.

In a bowl add together the oats/oatbran (you can grind half of them if you want), cinnamon, protein powder (you could also add stevia or splenda if you wanted). A little baking powder would be ok too.
In a blender combine egg whites, c.cheese, vanilla essense and applesauce. Add some water as well. You could also add a little PB or Almond butter.
Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Add more water if needed.
Put in a pre-heated oven until cooked (350 ish would do I imagine)...
Let cool, slice and keep in an airtight container (in the freezer if you are only going to use them in emergencies or in the fridge if you think you will eat them quickly).

-Chewy Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bars
Ingredients:
1 cup oat flour
1 ½ cups whey protein powder
¼ cup cocoa powder
½ cup nonfat dry milk powder
¼ cup stevia blend (or other artificial sweetener)
½ teaspoon salt
2 egg whites
½ teaspoon super-strength chocolate flavouring (LorAnn brand)
½ teaspoon super-strength peanut butter flavouring (LorAnn brand)
¼ cup creamy peanut butter
¼ - 1/3 cup water
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
mix:
1.5 cups of protein powder(I used my whey/caseinate blend with splenda from protein factory)
about 7 egg whites(enough so that when you mix everything you have a nice, somewhat fluid mixture)
1.5 cups of Oats
sweetener of your choice
cinammon
either some olive oil or a good amount of cooking spray(I used spray and don't think i used enough)
bake for about 25 minutes at 400 F
they will fluff up quit a bit when you bake
makes 4 gigantic protein cookies(about 5 inches in diameter and an inch thick
approximate nutritional breakdown:
1 cookie:
2grams of fat(good fat from oats)
18g carbs
30g protein
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are the ingredients:
8 scoops vanilla or chocolate whey protein powder
2 cups rolled oats
4 medium bananas (raw)
1.2 oz banana chips (about one handful)
4 tbsp chunky peanut butter
1 cup granulated Splenda
1 tsp salt
Instructions:
1. In a clean, dry blender, process one cup of rolled oats into flour (blend on medium for about 1 minute).
2. After removing the oat flour, put the banana chips into the blender and chop into chips (only takes a few seconds).
3. Put all of the dry ingredients into a large bowl and stir together: oat flour, the remaining rolled oats (1 cup), chopped banana chips, protein powder, Splenda, salt.
4. Slice the raw bananas into the blender and process on medium speed, until producing a puree. Add the peanut butter and blend for a few seconds, just until mixed (you want to leave some peanut chunks for texture).
5. Stir the banana-peanut butter puree together with the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
6. Cut 8 squares of aluminum foil, about 6X10 inches each. Lightly coat the interior with a cooking spray. Spoon out an equal portion of the mixture onto each foil square, and roll them into a bar shape. I fold them like tamales, folding the ends over as well. You can flatten them into bar shapes if you want, to avoid the resemblance to what it might look like after it passes through your body.
7. Bake the bars in the foil in a preheated oven at 350-degrees F, for 16-20 minutes. *Be sure not to overcook*
