Hey,

I was wondering how much carbs the body can take. Does it get to a point where the body has had enough of the carbs and you will just shit it out? or can you continue to eat them and put on mass. I am bulking at the moment and I have put on around 3 kilos of mass in 3 weeks from eating a lot of carbs although I have not put on any fat... Does the carbs turn into muscle or does it just burn the carbs while you workout to build muscle?

What is a safe amount of carbs to eat a day per kilo/pund of bodyweight? I want to put on weight as fast as possible.

Thanx

It depends on the person - things like your lean body mass, your energy output (activity level, exercise type and intensity, environment where you are) your age, your sex etc etc all change how much you can eat.

In terms of what it will do - well, if you eat more calories (not just carbs) than you need then you will add tissue. This will be any combination of muscle, fat and other things (connective tissue etc)...

Too much food taken all at once will lead to a greater 'loss' in your intestines (less % is absorbed) but your overall absorption will still increased and the loss does not 'make up' for the amount you are eating.

The carbs act as energy for your body - this energy can be used for your muscles to work out, used by your body to build and repair tissue, used by your other organs for energy/to help production of substances etc...

If you eat more calories than your body needs, and more than your body can use for muscle growth, then you will gain fat.

There is no real 'limit' (although a LOT of high glycaemic carbs will cause your blood insulin and glucose levels to go hay-wire) but the amount you eat will be determined more by how much you can physically fit in.
