The manager put up little signs all over the guy today that said "rerack your weight when you're done with the equipment or you will be fined". I don't know how much the fine is, but this is great! Now, if they would only fine people for using to much weight.

crap, Im glad my gym doesnt, coz today, I realized after I was sitting in my car that I left all my plates on the leg press after my final set!!!! Ive never done this before, even racked my weights at home!!! I did think I was gonna vomit today, that might explain it!

LOL, a fine for bad form!!lol

A fine? Tell 'em to take it out of your membership dues. I know some days it looks like a bunch of 4 yr olds had been playing (huge 4 yrd olds) and left junk all over the place...the guys who are "regulars" are all pretty good about re-racking thier plates/dumbbells but they still have signs for reminders all over the gym.

I wish my gym did. I swear that every single day there are more weights on the ground than on the racks, and the ones that are racked are in the way wrong places. 15's in the 140's, 110's in the 40's. It's horrible.

I know, just today (before the signs went up) there was weight on 3 out of 4 benchs both squat racks the hack squat one of the smith machine, and the db rack was out of order. I can never tell if someone is on the equipment, or if they just left it unracked. They should make a lot of money off this. It also says you can't slam the weight any more, I forgot to say that.

That is a great idea. I use it but I put everything back.

that is a good idea, but comon everyone havnt we all done that many times before, i know i have, my gym has the same problem, but it doesnt bother me since us regulars know each other good that if we need to use something we just split use it while the other person rests and drinks water....i know so many guys there i talk to them all the time and workout in between sets with them but i dont even know their name or who they are, lol.......but racking your weights is a great idea, i hate those stupid people who come and just leave 10 dumbells on the floor....

Not a bad idea. Was curious though, how many of you guys leave the 45 plates on the bench press whenever done (and just rerack the rest of the weight)? This seems like a pretty common thing everywhere (my old HS, my last college, and current college and several gyms I have been to). Does this annoy anyone? I actually like this since I always use at least a plate on each side. I would hate to get fined for this.

Do any of you guys work out at Rodman's? I lift weights there and it is very neat and organized. They have people who are friendly and dedicated in their work. Every hour or two someone will come in the weight rooms and check the racks and make sure everything is in order. The dumbbells are in perfect order starting left to right from 5 pounds to 100 so you know where to find them. Most people at my gym usually put the weights back but there are a few that don't. I usually do but sometimes i'll be careless or so exhausted that i am just like fuck it.

On my bench, squat, and deads I strip everything but the 45's. Every other excercise I take my shit off.

i almost got in a scrap with a guy once when i said 'hey man do you leave your toys out at mommas house too?' after he left 12 plates on the leg press and i was waiting for it.
i prolly woulda rolled him too but i didnt want to lose my great deal on my membership.
big kids is a good analogy.

I always put my stuff back, even on leg day. If I have to rest (yes), then I do so.

people are idiots and assholes, for the most part they do whatever they want. just about every gym I have every trained in says "no gym bags" yet there is always a bunch of idiots in there with gym bags creating trip hazzards for everyone.

that's a great idea we have signs up but that's about it. Obviously no one reads them

A gym I go to has a sign saying clean equipment after use... all well and good but arnt we paying for gym membership? do we eat at a resturant and clean the dishes after? or when we do a dump in thier toilet do we clean that out to? how about the floor if we walk a bit of mud in, should there be a sign for that?

no, but when you go to a library and look at a book from the shelf, you dont leave it laying on the floor. in some cases common courtesy is appreciated if you are a decent enough person to have any.

you are supposed to wipe down your equipment with a workout towel after use. that's SOP at any gym

Posted by: westb51

I was thinking the other day, what if i went to the gym stood right in front to the dumbbell rack (i'm not talking 2 or 3 feet, oh no that would be too far) and unracked three generations, had a huge gym bag, and cell phone. I would go around 5:30, talk on my phone for a little while, do a set when I was done with the set fuckin' drop those bitches from shoulder height after doing some 65lb back curls. And after i'm done just leave that shit right there.

I wonder if anyone would get a clue?

Which is what I do but I see some people have the spray bottles and paper towels out and they're putting a nice shine on the machine. I just don't have that kind of time.

All i need for the gym are a pair of shoes, pants, t-shirt and pwoshake. It always amazes me when i see some guys carrying in a gym bag big enough to hold a body!

librarians are still paid to keep the place up and keep it clean. but like i said common courtesy is appreciated, and those who lack it can keep to themselves until they learn it
