Advice needed

Hi all, I wonder if I could call upon the advice of you good people.

I have been training for years on and off for all sorts of sports. I had a long rest and in the last two months, I have been focusing on weights. I am 6f 4" and about 200lb. I would say I am a slim athletic build but I do have some stomach fat. I want to get in good shape for July August i.e. lean and muscular.

Should I lose the weight now or bulk up and the fat will go. Alternatively, should I start to try to shed it now and not bother trying to bulk up until I have lost it?

In addition, will creatine help me cut or will it just bulk me up.

Thank for your advice,

Well - it depends on your BF%...

If you are over 25% then I would concentrate on fat loss. If you try to add mass at that stage you are asking for extra 'tub'... That means you drop your cals, add more cardio (if you need) and aim to only get fat loss.

If you are between about 15 and 20 then I would do a 're-comp' and aim to do both. Sit at or just under maintainence and alter your cardio accordingly...

If you are between 12-15% then it is boarderline - you could do a re-comp and then, when you are a little lower, focus on adding mass.

Anything under about 10-12% and I would focus on gaining.

I would think, as you 'want to get in shape' that you would fit into one of the first two catagories.... And, probably, the best thing would be to do a re-comp and get the best of both worlds....

The creatine may help as well - but it is a supplement, so unless your diet and training are correct it will not be very effective.

Thanks for that advice much appreciated, I think a re-comp may be the best way forward from what you have said.

should I only start with the creatine and protein supp when I have correct Body fat level.

Best regards

Christian

It usually is for most people who are 'halfway' - too lean to just diet and too bulky to bulk!

You would want to start taking some whey protein after your workouts now - this is the best protein to have PWO as it is rapidly absorped and allows a rapid restoration of your amino acids.

Creatine - well, it is up to you. You can take it now (and it might help with strength and stamina) but most people find it most useful when they are specifically concentrating on gaining lean mass.
