I was wondering if weight belts would help at all with my squating. Sometimes when i squat i feel this sharp pain in my lower abdominal area. I had read somewhere that belts could help reduce chances of getting hernia's. Then again after reading some threads here, people said don't use them. anyone got any ideas?

Weight belts are used by powerlifters for this reason, however they are not supposed to be extremely tight. It gives the abdominal wall something to push up against for support, plus it keeps the region warm which is considered a side benny.
