Keep beating the shit out of your upper back. Possibly even throw a little upper back work on one of your Squat/DL days. Beat that bitch into shape.

Also, when you do repetitions on any kind of bench press like exercise, pause for a half second or a second on your chest.

Do suspended bench again next week and try to add 5 pounds to your lift. If you hit it, go for another 5 pounds.

Sounds good.... Looks like today will have some decently high volume if I throw an upper back exercise in, but I have raised my calorie intake to about 3000 again. Maybe it's unnecessary for me to do hypers if I'm doing SLDL's today...

Just keep playing around with what works. The template I laid out for you before is working qutie well for me right now, so I'm not going to fuck with it. I hit some PRs my last couple of workouts. It takes some time to find the right balance of volume and such on this program.

Thanks - I made +35 for about 5 or 6 reps back when I weighed 190, so I guess the weight difference isn't really that much.

But you weigh less and able to do to +45 for more reps, that is awesome.

Things looking good in hear Sean. I see lots of PBs. What's your plan regarding cutting fat/gaining LBM?

Thanks pimp... Well, I've bumped cals back up to about 2800-3000 per day which is close to maintenance... maybe a bit under. I'm planning to just keep my cals around there for about 5 or so months and maybe recomp, and if I gain some lean mass I'll be happy. At the end of the 5 months I'll probably start bulking again around September or October.

Having gotten down to 176lbs, I don't really want to get any lighter... I think I'm hovering around 177 now.

Yeah, I feel ya. I've pretty much been on a maintenance tip for a bit, although I actually lost a couple pounds recently unintentionally; I just wasn't getting the calories down. I was still hovering around 3800 but losing, heh.

Thank ya Kelju. Not really, it's just that I list my warmup sets, so it looks like I'm doing more than I am... My working sets were only around 14 sets discounting the speed benches, and the speed benches are relatively low intensity, so it's not like I'm doing 8 really difficult sets on them.

Another pretty damn good workout today... Kept it pretty short and high intensity.

I'm going to do squats for 2 more weeks... Next week will be my 3 RM, and then shooting for a PB on 1RM again... After that I'm switching to deads after a week of hypertrophy/vanity workouts... I'll be ordering some chalk and creatine soon here (2 bottles of VNS Jacked, my personal favorite, and one bottle of Universal Storm just to try something new).

6.5 mins treadmill warmup

Box Squats (low box, about 10-12" I need to bring a tape measurer some time)

45lbs x 6
95lbs x 4
135lbs x 3
175lbs x 2
205lbs x 1 PB (for box squats, warmups were to here, funny I get a PB on warmups)
225lbs x 1 PB
235lbs x 1 PB
245lbs x 1 PB - Probably could've gotten 265 today, but I was a little too tired to try at this point I was only planning on going to 225, but it was easier than I thought.

Glute/Ham Raise
25lbs x 8
10lbs x 10
10lbs x 10

Leg Press
180lbs x 6
270lbs x 4 (warmups to here)
410lbs x 8 PB???? - Can't remember.... I probably got 410 x 6 or something before
410lbs x 8

Rack Deadlifts
135lbs x 6
185lbs x 4
225lbs x 2 (DOH to here)
255lbs x 1 (warmups to here)
295lbs x 6 PB
275lbs x 6

Knee Raises
15lbs DB x 10
15lbs DB x 10

Leg Raises
BW x 10

Stretch

I also wanted to try "Westside Training", but the program looks hard to follow. I watched a video posted by P-funk a few months ago with the creator of the Westside training program, and there was a lot of stuff I really didn’t understand.
For instance, the dynamic workout where they were putting boxes on their chest to bench press, using bungi cord and chains for various resistance changes.

That's for more experienced Westsiders, Cowpimp doesn't even do that yet... The boxes on their chest is called a "board press." I don't really understand why they do it that way, because couldn't you just set the stops on the power rack at a higher level and achieve the same thing? It's more or less just a partial bench rep, or "rack lockout." The chains and cords are used to offer more resistance at the weakpoint in a lift. Useful, yes, but necessary at beginner levels? not necessarily.

Plus, most public gyms don't have the chains, cords etc you need... You'd either need to get your own, or join a powerlifting gym.

Actually, the only reason I don't use bands is because we don't have them. I will probably invest in a set in the not too distant future though. I think they could definitely help my bench press; my lockout sucks monkey cock. I have, however, given the chains a try. We have some chains at my gym. In fact, I plan on doing some chain benching tomorrow for ME bench day.

You're right though, they aren't necessary. You can make great strides without them. Nonetheless, they are certainly useful to have in the proverbial toolbox.

Haha. Yeah, I'm happy with how I've leaned out short term, but I'm definately not going to bulk yet.. I'm just going to sit around 2800-3200 cals for the next 5 months or so, and hopefully get leaner and maybe add a little lean mass before bulking again....

Anyway, time to hit the gym for my ME Bench day !

I feel you. I've been pretty much maintaining for the past few months. My strength has gone up so I don't really care about getting bigger right now. In fact, I slipped up with my eating habits a little bit and shed a couple of pounds unintentionally, heh. It's cool to maintain sometimes; forcefeeding and starving yourself constantly sucks ass. You have to take a break from it.

I'll be joining you in ME bench land in a little while, heh.

95lbs x 4

It's in the power rack... You set the safety stops at exactly chest level, and start the press from the bottom, so you don't get the eccentric portion to help you with the "spring" effect.

Don't worry about the suspended bench. You can't always break a record. In the future though, don't be afraid to back it down and shoot for the previous PR or 5 pounds less. I often have to do that.

As well, you might consider stepping up the speed benching volume. Do 10-12 sets instead of 8. Keep fucking up that upper back like there's no tomorrow and maybe even pump up the volume there a little bit now that you're back to some heavier eating.

Sounds good... Usually, I'll consider backing down the weight on my ME lift if I missed, but it didn't even budge and I was pissed...

Believe me I understand, heh. Maybe you should try implementing some isometrics for your ME work, or in addition to it?

You mean things like pushing against a static object or wall? If so, I did some of the in physical theorapy for my shoulders.

Oh, and CP, I got a question for my DE squat day tomorrow... I usually do SLDL's for my ham dominant exercise, but I've been wanted to try trap bar deadlifts... Do you think it'd be alright to use the trap bar deads in place of SLDL's? I know it isn't quite as intensive on the hams, but I'd still like to try it...

Exactly, which is basically what happened when you did the suspended bench anyway, if you think about it. If you're weak off the chest, then set the pins like you're going to do a suspended bench press and then press against the pins with the barbell. Usually repetitions last about 5 seconds a piece.

Give it a try, why not? Remember that squatting raw is more indicative of having strong quadriceps than squatting in a suit. I train my quads on squat/deadlift days, but I just do a higher level of volume for the posterior chain.

You just have to run around and explore until you find a "sigil stone" in a tower, and then activate it... Dorian I have no idea about, haven't done that...

If you need a bunch of lockpicks, go to the Imperial City prison and pick the big gate lock and go down to the stairs to the guy sleeping behind the prison on the grass.

Pretty tiring workout today...

Speed Box Squats (10-12" box)
45lbs x 8
95lbs x 2
135lbs x 3
155lbs x 2 (warmups to here)
175lbs x 8 sets x 2 reps - started to feel fairl heavy on the traps for some reason...)

Trap Bar Deadlifts
135lbs x 6
185lbs x 4 (warmups to here)
225lbs x 8
245lbs x 8 (wasn't too difficult except for stamina... I actually seem to feel these in my quads more than BB deadlifts, would that make sense given the change in the center of gravity?)

Front Squats
45lbs x 6
95lbs x 4
135lbs x 2 (warmups to here)
155lbs x 6
135lbs x 8 - didn't feel like going to 175 today, deadlifts killed me

Hyper Extensions
25lbs x 3 sets x 10 reps

Cable Crunches
130lbs x 20
140lbs x 15
150lbs x 10

stretch

I bought some heavy resistance cables from the gym's shop today so I don't have to rely on the cabinet in the stretching room being open to have access to them for rotar cuff work....

Internal & external rotations I believe is what they're called.

You can also do rows/presses with them too.

The trap bar deads definitely hit your quads more than regular deads. How's you like 'em ?

Yes indeed.

I liked them pretty well actually, I think I might incorporate them as in ME lift when I switch to deadlifts in 2-3 weeks.

Posted by: Seanp156

Weight was 178.9 this morning (my normal weight in day of the week) ... I'm actually surprised I didn't weight more after having bumped my cals back to maintenance after cutting.

Pretty good workout today... I encountered something odd in my gym today... There were about 10 guys benching... All of them were powerlifters, and there were using the Westside program and it was their ME day.... They were very strong, we're talking 4-5 plates on each side for board presses... I asked one of them when they trained and he said sunday at 10 am, and wednesday at 6pm...

They're primarily bench competitors, most of them don't do squats or deads, but they invited me to train bench with them. I won't be able to on wednesday because of class, but I could on sundays. If I do though, I'll have to switch my ME bench day to Sunday, and my DE day to wenesday... What do you guys think? Should I train with them on my ME bench day, or no?

Anyway....

Speed Bench Presses
45lbs x 6
95lbs x 3 (warmups to here)
135lbs x 8 sets x 3 reps - on the last 2 or 3 sets, I used a closer grip than what I was using (pinkies about an inch in from the rings) and it felt much better, not only on the shoulders, but there was extra springiness too which made things feel much easier, I'll have to remember to use a closer grip on my ME day...

DB Incline Press
55lbs x 4 (warmup)
70lbs x 6
65lbs x 7

DB Rows
60lbs x 4 (warmup)
70lbs x 4 sets x 6 reps (each arm)

Dips
BW + 25lbs x 3 (warmup)
BW + 45lbs x 8
BW + 45lbs x 6 - Stick with 45 until I can get two sets of 8, then up it to 50 or 55
BW x 11

over-hand Pullups
BW x 4
BW x 4
BW x 4

Parallel grip pullups
BW x 4

Machine Rows
110lbs x 12
140lbs x 6

Static BB holds
225lbs x 9 sec
205lbs x 13 sec

Static DB holds
80lbs x 28 sec
70lbs x 46 sec

preacher curls (gheyness)
50lbs x 12
60lbs x 6

10 mins stationary bike

stretch + rotar cuff work

Ha, no our gym has a chain belt, which I always use, so I use plates.

I used to use straps/hooks when I did pull ups...might wanna give that a whirl?
My pull ups are sucking wind right now too...

Yeah, I used straps for one set on either wednesday, or last sunday, can't remember... I also can't remember if it helped the feeling in my wrists or not .

I have a pair of versa grips. Better than straps.

I would definitely take that oppurtunity to train with those guys if you can swing it schedule wise. Training with some high level benchers with similar goals could make a great deal of difference!

I can work with them on sundays, but wednesday is out of the question until school's over... So, if I'm going to train with them this coming sunday, should I do my ME day on wednesday like normal, or do DE again so I'm not doing ME twice this week?

Weight was 177.6 this morning... Damn I'm a light little feller... In a way, I want to bulk again now .

yeah, what was your diet (I know you have basically told me this) but type it out maybe... I wanna see it again, I should construct one essentially just like it probably.

Hehe, thank ya pimp... So, on wedneday should I do my dynamic effort bench day again (already did it sunday), or my max effort if I'm going to train max effort on sundays from now on so I can train with those powerlifters?

I think I'm going to start upping my calories again. I might not be going on an all out bulk yet, but as it's been going, I haven't been having complex carbs for 2 meals a day, and I think with my body type, I need them.

I would do a DE workout again. You could probably use the speed anyway with your sticking point where it is.

It doesn't really matter if it's not a workout day .

On days I workout, I take it twice... Once before I workout, and again at night.

Posted by: Seanp156

Today's workout was fairly sucky, at least the benching portion... It just didn't feel right today, and the weight felt heavy for whatever reason... I was tired before I went, and I've been a bit of an insomniac lately... Having trouble getting decent sleep...

Plus, the gym's being painted, and the fumes kinda get to ya...

Speed Bench

45lbs x 8
95lbs x 5 (warmups to here)
135lbs x 2 sets x 3 reps
125lbs x 2 sets x 3 reps

I have been working out 2 hours after I wake up for a while now. I used to lift later. I like doing it early because I am usually thinking about it all day until I get to it. I hate breaking routine because I mess my meals up.

I wonder if my body would do anything different later in the day.

Jesus dude, we have the exact same way of thinking. I like to get my workouts done and over with in the morning (9-10am) so i don't have to think about it all day and not have to drag myself there if i am tired. Also, the meals tend to get screwed up later in the day if i workout because dinner closes at 7:30 and i have homework to do plus my friends want to hang out and stuff like that. So, it's easy to get it done early when everyone is busy with classes.

Just out of curiosity, how much in the way of gains have you seen with creatine?

Well, I'm not really sure... I've been using it pretty much all the time . I've at least been real consistent with my bulk CEE except when I've been sick, I usually don't bother with it when I'm sick.... However, I think NO2/creatine products taken pre-workout help me much more than just taking creatine. They give a nice energy boost, even more so when they have caffeine.

Last summer I'd always make it to the gym between 10 PM - 12 AM, and then end up going to bed around 3-5 AM... I usually didn't get up until noon.

I used to rock latenight workouts. Before I lifted and I used to do bodyweight stuff and go jogging I would workout at 1 or 2AM. I got equipment in my basement years later and continued that trend. My brother's room was right next door. He would have people over and they would pass through to go outside to smoke or something and I would be in there shirtless and barefoot doing one legged squats and shit. Funny stuff.

I had my first session with the Westside benchers this morning... They totally changed my form, so my traps are pushed into the bench, legs are wide and straightened, and there's a fair arch in my back... They also taught me to use both a fast eccentric and concentric to the point of pretty much dropping the bar in a controlled state.

This session lasted way too long, I'd probably killed an hour by the time I was done with BB benching alone...

Flat BB Bench
45lbs x 8 (using my old form)
95lbs x 6
135lbs x 5
155lbs x 5
155lbs x 5 (switched to the new PL form)
175lbs x 3 (warmups)

1 Board Press
185lbs x 1
195lbs x 1
205lb x 1
215lbs x 0 (bar path was off, too far behind me)
215lbs x 1 PB - of course, this isn't really a full bench press
145lbs x 3 slow eccentric learning bar path...
145lbs x 3 same ^

DB Flat Bench
50lbs x 4 warmup
60lbs x 8
60lbs x 8

T-Bar Rows (real T-bar rows, I was using a cambered bar before when I titled it T-bar on accident)
45lbs x 12
70lbs x 10
70lbs x 10

Seated DB Press
40lbs x 2 sets x 8 reps
40lbs x 5 reps

Lat Pulldowns
130lbs x 3 sets x 8 reps

Nautilus Compound Row Machine
160lbs x 10
160lbs x 8
150lbs x 8

Static BB Holds
185lbs x 21 sec
225lbs x 4 sec

Farmer's Walk
60lbs DB's x down aisle and back

15 mins elliptical
10/20 resistance
_|-|_|-|_ course
195 cals
1.40 miles

stretch + rotar cuff exercises

It was cool, they're pretty nice and seemed to be pretty eager to help me out, so I think I'll keep training with them on Sunday mornings for the next 6 weeks or so of Westside, then decide if I want to change things up or not.

I don't think I would've hit a PR with my new form if I were doing a full, and slow/strict press, so no I'm definately not used to the form yet.

One of them went up to working with a little over 7 plates per side today . Even with a shirt, that's still impressive.

Yeah, hehe... I was one of the side spotters when he was down in the 500's. When he went higher there was a little crowd hanging out watching him.

I seem to be having a little trouble with my order of creatine and chalk...

I ordered 2 tubs of VNS Jacked, 1 of Storm, and 2lbs of gym chalk... The site I bought from is saying the VNS Jacked is on backorder (I placed my order on 5/11/06) and they still haven't gotten it in today; saying it's past the expected date from the manufacturer, so nothing's even shipped out to me yet.

They've offered to replace it with another product, but I really like VNS Jacked from when I used it last time, and some other pre-workout sups I've tried have made me sick to my stomach, so I'm a little cautious of trying new products... I'm already trying Storm which is new, so I don't really want my whole order to be products I have no experience using...

I'm thinking about just having them replace the Jacked with 2 more tubs of Storm, then ordering the VNS Jacked from another site but what if I don't respond well to it? I'll have wasted $80...

Anyway, there's my rant... Tonight's going to be ME Squat day and I'm trying for a 1RM PR, but my legs and glutes are STILL REALLY sore from friday's workout .

Hey Sean, do you feel your body responding to the westside style?
If so, do you feel that it is better than P/RR/S?

Posted by: CowPimp

Sounds like you had a good session with those guys. That's an awesome opportunity, and it's great that they're willing to help you. I had no idea you weren't using PL form! All your upper back work will pay off more in the long run once you get fully adjusted.

Hehe, yeah it was nice... The only part of power lifting form I was using was a narrow grip, and bringing the bar down to my upper abs, so I guess my 1RM of 205 was basically a close grip press.

I did Westside back in the fall as well, at this point I definately like it better than P/RR/S... I just think I like upper/lower splits overall. Not really a fan of bodypart training anymore, however I might do a push/pull/leg split again some time.

Right now I'm feeling a little exhausted, so after this week I'm going to take a week off. I might do some active recovery/deloading, or I might just do nothing, not really sure yet.

Pretty good session tonight except my stomach felt a little irritated throughout... I guess steak, potatoes, and veggies isn't exactly the best choice for a pre-workout meal, but that's the price I pay for working out at night instead of the morning...

Also, at night is seems a lot of college age pretty boys show up to the gym... It's hilarious, they're always in groups of 2 or 3, and they're INCREDIBLY GAY... I swear, curling in the squat rack (the one with adjustable pins at that) with 75lbs and having your friend spot you....
Worst of all they're all tan beyond what looks natural, and wear underarmor or sleeveless tees...And of course, they all have chicken legs. It's hilarious

Annnnnnyway, I bumped up the volume on leg press, as well as rack deads, and decreased the intensity a bit.

Parallel Squats
45lbs x 8
95lbs x 6
135lbs x 5
165lbs x 5
185lbs x 3
205lbs x 3
225lbs x 2
255lbs x 1
275lbs x 1 (warmups to here)
305lbs x 1 PB - Got stuck about 3-4 inches out of the hole, but eventually got it up
225lbs x 8 (I know, I'm sick)

Glute/Ham Raise
25lbs x 3 sets x 10 reps

Leg Press
180lbs x 6
270lbs x 6 (warmups to here)
430lbs x 8
380lbs x 8
360lbs x 8
320lbs x 12

Rack Deads
135lbs x 6
185lbs x 6 (warmups to here)
225lbs x 8
255lbs x 8
255lbs x 8
225lbs x 8

Cable Crunches
140lbs x 12
150lbs x 12
170lbs x 6 PB weight wise

stretch

Workout didn't take long at all, maybe an hour.

gj on the squat PR. Very good.

It is so funny seeing those kind of guys, they are such tools.

Yep, went from 285 to 305 in the past 5 weeks on my squat, so that's good. After my break, I'll be working on my deadlift for the next 5 weeks, so I won't see a 315 squat for at least 7 or so weeks.

Hopefully I'll be able to get my deadlift to 345 in 5 weeks.

If I can hit a 365 deadlift, 245 bench, and 325 squat by October for the meet at a bodyweight of 180 or less, I'll be happy.

Thanks fufu. Yeah, I can't help myself glaring at those types of guys... I think I rolled my eyes at one of them when he looked at my in the mirror .

Great w/o and Fantastic job on the PB's too!!! Way to push through that!!!

thanks AA!

Sounds like some very reasonable goals to me. I'm sure you can achieve them. Your bench goal is somewhat lofty, but October gives you plenty of time.

You really think the bench goal's a little high? I don't know, I was thinking training with these guys might get it even higher than that by October.

Pretty good workout today, much better than last week's DE day... The gym's STILL being painted so all the equipment's still unoriganized etc which can be a little distracting...

Also, the dips seemed to be more stressful than usual across my clavical... I don't think I'll do this movement every week... I'll probably alternate between it and push-presses from now on.

Speed Bench Press (PL form of course)
45lbs x 2 sets x 3 reps
95lbs x 3 reps
115lbs x 3 reps
130lbs x 4 sets x 3 reps
135lbs x 4 sets x 3 reps - 135 actually feels lighter than 130... I think it's because having a 45 on each side distributes the weight further and makes it easier to balance overall than a 25,10,5,and 2.5 on each side...

DB Incline Press
50lbs x 4 (warmup)
60lbs x 2 sets x 6 reps
50lbs x 2 sets x 6 reps

DB Rows
60lbs x 4 (warmup)
70lbs x 4 sets x 6 reps each arm

Dips
BW + 35lbs x 6
BW + 25lbs x 6
BW + 10 x 6
BW x 6

Pronated Pullups
BW x 6 PB
BW x 4

Parallel grip pullups
BW x 2 sets x 5 reps

Skull Crushers
50lbs x 6 warmup
60lbs x 7
60lbs x 5

Cable Pushdowns
50lbs x 12
60lbs x 8

Farmer's Walk
70lbs DB's x down aisle and back

15 min stationary bike
10/20 resistance
random hill course
3.4 miles
~87 cals

stretch + rotar cuff work

loooooooking gooooooooood. weeeeeeeeeee.

Insane by the fact that the volume is insane!... I have a hard time limiting my acccessory work sometimes....

My creatine and chalk finally got here today... I can't wait to try Storm pre-workout, and I might give the chalk a try on SLDL's.

I feel you. I went nuts on my accessory work this last cycle. Next time around I think I'm going to focus on fewer exercises that have proven to work well for me and do more volume on those.

Good workout today... I was a little sluggish the first 2-3 sets of speed squats, but then I got really focused and had awesome speed and form.

BW x 10 squats warmup

Speed Box Squats
45lbs x 8
95lbs x 4
135lbs x 3
155lbs x 2 (warmups to here)
175lbs x 8 sets x 2 reps

SLDL - grip was an issue today because of humidity, I was sweating like a mofo... I thought about bringing chalk, but didn't because I thought "I won't be going over 205, I won't need it...")
135lbs x 6
165lbs x 4
185lbs x 2
205lbs x 8
205lbs x 5 (grip, hands really sweaty )
185lbs x 9 (grip again)
185lbs x 5 (you guessed it...)

Front Squats
45lbs x 8
95lbs x 6
135lbs x 8
135lbs x 8
145lbs x 8
145lbs x 8

Hyper Extensions
35lbs x 10
35lbs x 10
25lbs x 10

Decline Weighted Situps
25lbs x 8 (warmup)
35lbs x 3 sets x 10 reps

stretch

Meh, yesterday's diet wasn't the best... I skipped a meal, and went about 5 hours without food at one point... And then my last meal only had about half the carbs it was supposed to because my dog snatched part of it real quick .

Twas for a good cause though, I spent about 5 hours out with a girl from class .

Sean, when you are bulking, how often do you do cardio? I saw your post in my thread and you said you do cardio 2 times a week. I am just curious, what kind of cardio do you do and when do you usually do it? In the morning before you eat? After you lift weights? On your off days? Let me know please.

Usually twice per week after my bench/upper body days... I'll generally do either the elliptical or stationary bike for 10-15 mins... Sometimes if I've already been in the gym a little too long, or I'm really tired I'll skip it.

I might start doing sprints on the treadmill, but I don't want to rape my knees.

Hahaha... NO

Yep, regrettably... I'd like to lower the volume, but I just can't get myself to... The lower body squat/dead days are fine IMO, but my bench days usually tend to go a bit overboard... I just can't help not doing a fair amount of accessory work... I just feel like I need to to get a good workout in... Even moreso because I feel like my upperbody's lagging in comparison to my lower body, both strength and hypertrophy wise.

Before, when I was just doing a generic upper/lower split my volume was fairly low around 15 sets total, but sometimes I'll exceed that even for my accessory work now...

Westside is pretty high volume by nature.

Pretty good session today, I trained with bands for the first time ever, so that was definately a different feeling... The one guy I usually train with was somewhat suprised I got used to the bands as quick as I did... He said a lot of people are all over the place when they first use them.

Flat BB (no bands/warmup)
45lbs x 10
95lbs x 10

With Purple Bands (I think these are 100lbs tension at the top)
95lbs x 5
95lbs x 5
135lbs x 2 (warmups/seeing where I'm at)

With Purple Bands
115lbs x 3 sets x 5 reps
135lbs x 2 sets x 3 reps
155lbs x 1 miss, spotter gave some assistance for me to get it up...

DB Presses
35lbs x 6 warmup

DB Presses with Black Band (wrapped around the back with a twist, and looped into my hands, not sure what tension is, maybe 20-30lbs at top)
50lbs x 7
50lbs x 5
45lbs x 7

BB Bent Rows
45lbs x 10
95lbs x 8 (warmups)
135lbs x 10
155lbs x 8
135lbs x 10
135lbs x 12 - used a wider grip than usual today, 135 is easy as cake now...)

Standing BB Press
85lbs x 8 - just one set today, shoulders were fried from benching

Lat Pulldowns
120lbs x 12
130lbs x 8

T-bar Rows
45lbs x 14
70lbs x 10
80lbs x 8

Bench Dips
BW x 30
BW + 25lbs plate x 8

~10-12 mins treadmill 2 sprints, some jogging, and some walking

stretch + rotar cuff work

NEXT WEEK = OFF

In a way, I don't want to because this is the last week of classes before finals... I feel like it might be better to take off during finals week, but whetever... I guess it'll give me more time to study this week.

I'm anxious to start working on deadlifts again after working on my squat for ~5 weeks. Plus, I have chalk now for deadlifts

That looks like a very solid workout. Do you like using the bands or do you prefer just conventional weights?

I'm jealous about the chalk, by the way.

Funny, I'm unloading next week myself. Hehe. Tis the season I guess. When you workout with those guys, do you pretty much just follow what they suggest you do, or do you pick your own assistance work or what? How's the PL form coming along?

The bands were certainly different, requires MUCH more stabilization, and it makes the bar path even more crucial. Plus, my triceps are fried because of the added tension at the top during lockout.

I have a feeling if I train with bands for a while, normal weights will feel fairly easy. There's no way I would even THINK about using bands without spotters though, unless maybe I used a power-rack.

I think I'm just going to do some random stuff during my week off... Rotar cuff work, stretching, BW squats, pushups, and pullups at home (I have a fence gateway I can use for pullups).

I pretty much do what they tell me to do for my ME lift, and then they might mention something to work on for accessory work, but the majority of the accessory work I just wing when I'm there, mostly following the template you gave me... I've been throwing in some extra things though...

For example today, the one I train with (Paul) suggested I use the bands on my DB benching today after my ME lift... It's kinda hard getting set up to DB bench with a band wrapped around your hands going around your back... When I finish I set I just have to drop the weights from about 1ft up.

Posted by: CowPimp

Good stuff. By the way, I got under a bar with 190 pounds of band tension at the top for a box squat the other day. Holy shit, it was hard to balance.

Heh, I could imagine... It's hard enough benching, and with benching you have two major points of contact rather than one...

Was that just with that band that it was hard to balance, or did you have weight on as well?

Oh, and Paul went up to either 5 or 6 plates per side today (can't remember), WITH the purple bands, and he wasn't using his bench shirt today either . Crazily strong...

Did some "circuits" outside in my yard today...

Underhand chinups x 6
BW Squats x 20
Inclined Pushups (used my porch)
