Junior: I told you to stop deadlifting every week. I don't care what JS thinks. Your CNS is now officially fried. Pulling heavy every week is too taxing on your nervous system.
When I was your age (in the 80's), I pulled every ten days, and only if I was getting ready for a meet. Now I pull 4 or 5 times a year. The rest of the time I'm doing romanian deads, good mornings, pull thrus, reverse hypers, back extensions with the cambered bar on my back, etc. Squatting with a close stance, with the hatfield bar, to a low box also helps. Read this: http://www.elitefts.com/documents/tr...e_deadlift.htm and this (pay close attention to mistake #1): http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=459744 Don't take time off, you just need to do something different. Bring your video camera this week-end. I'm benching 540 tomorrow and pulling 600 on Sunday |
...|
lol I just watched your video again with sounds...those are some sweet tunes.
Maybe you didn't rest enough between 405 and 440, it seemed like they were playing the same song on both attempts. |
Junior:
Being that you didn't show up today, you will remember tomorrow's workout for the rest of your life |
I'm not in charge tomorrow. Our 800 lb squatter is. And he's not nearly as lenient as I am
Sean, do you go to a powerlifting gym? What is all this talk about? I wish there was a gym like that around here...
I thought it was just you and me fufu?
Next week I'm going to take off completely unless I decide I want to do some light stuff at the worthington gym.
I did feel pretty exhausted during my squat/Good AM sets... Fairly short RI's. I was tasting my breakfast the majority of my workout. |
Yeah...

You've gone from weightlifting jocks to geeks talking about who is more l33t and who is more of a n3wb. Jeez... where do I sign up?

if i were doing strictly powerlifting (like you), I would make some room for bicep and tricep work.

Upper "shat." Very nice.
Now, something special for you: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...939&pr=goog-sl |
What the hell...
That's the most I've ever seen it, sure I'll be quite a bit less in the morning, but lately I've only been 191-192 at night. I ate and drank(water dur) quite a bit today I guess.
Either way, I'd rather be a stronger standing presser.

"YES LORD!?!?!?!!!!!!" "WE ARE EAGER TO PLEASE!!!!!"![]() hahahahaha, thats my master piece. |
My proxy is running fast ATM, I can zoom through journals now...well kind of.
fufu, I had the same thing that happened to happen to me this morning. I couldn't get to IM. I changed my IP and it fixed the problem.
. I thought rack deads would be a good idea since when I failed 440lbs it was right below my knees.
.

Rack Deadlifts (bar starting an inch below kneecaps)
45lbs x 8 135lbs x 10 185lbs x 4 225lbs x 3 275lbs x 1 315lbs x 1 (belt on here) 365lbs x 1 405lbs x 3 435lbs x 1 460lbs x 1 PR 500lbs x 1 PR 405lbs x 6 (alternating mixed grips each set... Fully set the bar down each time, no touch and go). |
Good workout tonight, you should be proud Pete

1. If you're rack pulling more than 110% of your normal pull off of the floor, you're not setting the pins low enough. Your deadlift is around 435. An additional 10% of this is 480. If you're pulling more than 480 out of the rack, the pins are too high. Read this: http://www.westside-barbell.com/Arti...0Training2.pdf 2. Heavy rack pulls will smoke your CNS faster than deadlifts off the floor. Don't do these too often or you'll burn out faster than stink on shit. 3. Rack pulls are not that beneficial because the positioning of the body and leverages will be completely different than if you lifted the bar off the floor. You're better off doing reverse band deadlifts off the floor so your body will stay in the same position. You also have to set the bands so you're not pulling more than 10% over and above your normal max off the floor. 4. I'm still trying to figure out how I will kill you on Saturday. |
Good job on the rack pulls, but you boys shouldn't smoke each other's poles just yet
I can see you haven't been around to the other forums like Open Chat... They're much worse than the journal section... As you can see, Cowpimp has no problem with such talk.

1. Stand on some plates next time you do them
2. Good 3. Buy some 4. No you won't PS: tell fufu and that flamethrower with the mullet to stop gobbling each others knobs and go out and get some poontang pie, preferably not from their cousins |
That's great...

Not sure what you mean by "deadlifting in the hundreds". the deload from the bands depends on how high i set the pins. Last time I did them the deload was about 50 pounds. Prior to that I had the pins set two holes higher, which brought the deload to over 100 lbs, which was too much. I was pulling 700 but my regular max is 600. The bands were still stretching when I stood all the way up with the bar so i wasn't getting much lockout work. the bands were still doing all the work. You want to set the bands so that they help the bar off the floor but you have to grind the lockout. You want to set the bands so that when you're standing straight up, the bands are completely deloaded.

I can't wait to see what everyone says about this saturday and sunday...

I can't get through the day without a warm throbbing rod in my mouth...preferably Sean's....
but it was epic. I had like 2 full attacks on the final enemy. The orks had high ground in the middle and they were pwning pretty gut (their new ranged unit is leet). At the end of the game I had like 550 kills, they had like 950 kills. I was way more aggressive than them, I should have just let them attack me thus my marine squads woulda done better... oh well. It was EPIC. The game lasted just over 1 hour too.
Meh...

.
I bet your real 3RM is like 350 because you did 335x3 for several sets. Good job!
Congradulatiosn man you've had some nice success staying focused... i have to get myself back accountable the last time you posted on my journal was a year ago lol
Jumping on the nice squat bandwagon.
It feels good to squat heavy, doesn't it? |
