Posted by: Archangel

Not sure what that is??? Pics or anything??? Best wishes with the Ohio State PLing thing!!! I'm considering switching over from BBing to PLing after my next contest in June!!!

We were using raw straight weight with no bands. I don't know what's going on with Sean. Last week he's struggling to get reps with 135. Today he shows up jacked to the nines. Face was covered with more zits than a pepperoni pizza. Cannon balls where his wimpy triceps used to be. 55 inch chest. The rest of us are struggling to get 365 raw and this motherfucker lays downs and nails a triple. He must have scored some serious bukake from some pharmacist south of the border.

Posted by: Archangel

Brother Sean, just did some research, understand now!!! How much weight do they take off???

Depends on which bands you use and how high you suspend them.

if im not mistaken, do these reverse bands take the load off only at the top? At the bottom you feel all the weight on the bar or am i wrong?

How did you do it and why are you squatting about the same amount of weight now? Comp max is higher than normal right?

365lbs was for a 1 rep max, I did multiple sets of 2-3 reps with 350lbs today. And it was on ~4 hours of sleep. 365 wasn't at a meet either. My 3rd attempt at my meet back in October was 336lbs for 1.

Posted by: Brutus_G

Oh ok i was confused.

Awesome squats!

Posted by: Seanp156

Oh fufu, I forget to mention... Today, Pete said you're the perfect image of physical health . What *exactly* he meant by that I'm not sure.

I skip a few weeks reading your journal and come back to find you repping 350 on squats. Very impressive there, Sean.

That was about 2 years ago... About 5 months after I started working out at all. It is weird to think 155lbs was a struggle to squat for 4-5 reps though.

I kind of want to switch things up a bit and do some high bar close stance olympic squats with 225, no belt for 4 sets of however many reps I can get. You think Lynn will let me do that next week Pete?

That's the plan... There's a meet at the same place I did my first one back in October, coming up on April 21st. It's likely I'll do it depending what else is going on then. I'd like to hit a 400+ squat, 245+ bench, and 450+ deadlift there.

Be careful with those weighted dips. They started to aggrovate my elbow after a while.

Posted by: Seanp156

Yeah, I plan on rotating them with another exercise next week, probably DB presses or close grips... They usually don't bother my elbows though.

Posted by: fufu

Nice dips!

Maybe you should switch over to DB flat press for a bit and come back to barbell?

So... I went to pick up a pizza... I got out of my car and was in the parking lot when I heard this metal scaping noise....... An old beat up car comes flying down the road completely missing it's front right wheel just skidding on its brake disc... Behind it about 10 cop cars fly by... Why the hell would he even bother running in a car like that, let alone missing a wheel? Dumbass.

I'm wondering if I should switch to a sumo stance... Lately with conventional, it seems like I'm kind of stiff-legging it some... Either that or I need to train without a belt more often, for some reason when I wear a belt I find it easier to kind of round my back.

Improving grip strength will actually improve your deadlift form. try it once with straps and you will see the diffrence in your form.

ROFL, sean I was reading on wikipedia about warhammer 40k... loller here is something I liked

Quote:
Even the Space Marines are mortal, and when the greatest of their number fall in battle, if there is a spark of life left in them, and they are experienced enough to be considered invaluable to the Space Marine Chapter [as Dreadnoughts are few and far between, so only the best are given the privilege of becoming one], then their body will be transferred into the armoured sarcophagus of a Dreadnought. They are often mistaken to be huge armoured fighting suits or robots; they are similar to both and yet neither. Dreadnoughts are a combination of armoured walker and life-support system; their pilots are hooked straight into the Dreadnought's body, and are able to use it as if it were their own body, although they are permanently entombed until they are destroyed.
Quote:
Dreadnoughts are often thousands of years old. The oldest Dreadnought in the Imperium, Bjorn the Fell-Handed, of the Space Wolves was a member of Leman Russ' retinue and fought in the Horus Heresy when he was still whole of body. When the Dreadnoughts are not in need by the Chapter, they are placed back into the Chapter's chapel to sleep away the centuries until they are needed once more.
Sean, I want to be like Bjorn the Fell-Handed he sounds quite 1337...

Meh, unnatural to me... Definately weaker... I find I have to try to "spread" my feet out a lot more during the lift and actually feel like my legs are involved more. I didn't really feel like it was even that narrow at all, I had my hands so my pinkies were on the last part of the rough section of the bar, then had my legs as close in as possible given that grip.

Lately? Not really much of anything, school, work and the gym's keeping me busy enough.

I haven't really read any books on powerlifting, mostly articles online... You might want to check out Powerlifting USA.

Posted by: AndrewSS

^ Thats horrible sean... you need g4m1ng in your life.

Posted by: Seanp156

Probably shouldn't have tried to go as heavy as I did today...
Flat BB Bench
45lbs x couple sets
95lbs x 8
135lbs x 6
185lbs x 3 (warmups)
205lbs x 3
225lbs x 1 + 1 spot assist
225lbs x 1 + 1 spot assist (both of these were good on the first rep, but I screwed up the 2nd on both)
245lbs x 0 (I thought with 225 being that decent that I could hit 245 today, but couldn't)
205lbs x 2 + 1 spot assist
done...

Flat DB Hammer Grip Presses
60lbs x 14
60lbs x 9
50lbs x 12ish

Machine Shoulder Lat Raises

Machine Rear Delt Flyes

Rotator Cuff Work

I'm in the same boat. I work, go to school, workout, study, rinse and repeat. I'm happy with my schedule. As long as I stay productive, it isn't so bad.
