a guy that posts on another forum (vwvortex.com) is always braggin his numbers.. well, he said that he is 5'6" 165lbs.

he claims he:
benches - 315 - 5x
squats - 405 - 3x
deadlifts - 315(+) - 5x(+)

i dunno... i believe in the whole low center of gravity thing, but that weight seems like a lot for someone who weighs so little. are these numbers possible?

There is a bencher who weighs 165, he benches 605. So I'm sure the others are possible too. Most of the big lifters I know never brag though.

call me naive, its just that seems like a lot of weight... i mean, im benchin 10x 185... thats 100% of my bodyweight. but i dunno if i could lift close to 200%. thats a crazy number.

you should be able to tell if he knows what he's talking about or not. benching double your BW is an impressive feat and the guy is either

1. smart and knows what he's doing
2. really good genetics
3. lying.

thats also a pretty weak dl compared to the bench, seems a little fishy to me.

Dont give people the time of day. Who gives a fuck if hes lying or not, just block him lol. Its definetly feasible that someone with those stats could do that. Genetics plays a big role in the amount of weight a person will ever be able to lift, reguardless what people say.

I think it's definately possible. A guy at my school I'm kind of friends with is about the same, he's short, but he's very musclular and weighs about 170lbs. He can max around 300 something for bench and around 500 for squats, deadlifts, I don't know his max, but he was repping 225 easily when I trained with him one day. Of course, he's been lifting for about 5 years now, maybe ever 6 or 7. He pretty much just had really good genetics, his diet's decent, but not really good or great, and there's nothing special to his training.

What he said. But really, concerning yourself with others feats and if they are lying or not is a waste of your time that you could be spending doing other things.

My deadlift I dont feel is that great, not having tried a true max lift I can pull 5 plates off the floor raw. My best raw bench is 425.

Some squat better than they dead, and some dead better than they squat. World record wise though, I think you are looking at a 1275 squat (Mike "Mule" Miller) and a 933 dead (Andy Bolton).

1275/933 = 36% higher squat

Andy Bolton has squatted 1124, I dont know if thats his personal best.

Isn't that less than the best bench?

Yes, the best competition bench is 1005 by Gene Rychlak Jr.

The record for a teen as best I recall is 730 (bench). I forget offhand if he is 17 or 19, he is a Westside Trainer.

i thought the best dead was 1103 or som'mat

Posted by: Kracin

sure its possible.... lol i deadlifted 315x3... i may have hurt myself a little doing it, but i did it. and i can only bench 185x5.. everyone is different, the guy could be telling the truth, and couldnt be... but who cares lol its the internet and if he wants to inflate his ego through a computer, let him do it and continue to lie to himself.

933, Andy Bolton has everyone beat by at least roughly 3 pounds. Eventually someone will top that but no, bench has been over deadlift for a couple years now.

Damn Mudge, 425? I thought you were at like 405. Your turning into a damn monster.

Those figures aren't impossible. I know a guy thats ~190 lbs that can bench 300 lbs for reps, like 10+, its crazy cause everyone is working out and when he gets on the bench they kind of glance over in his direction and watch because its amazing how strong he is. I must admit, I check it out sometimes too (in the mirror, from the other side of the room of course). I'm 185 lbs and ORM @ 315 bench, 400 squat, and ~300 deadlift after about 9 months of training. So its not at all impossible.

Moral of the story is that body weight is not relative to strength
