Hi ppl

This is my first post on this site so sorry if its this is off topic. Im 21 and do weightlifting 3 times a week at my local gym. i would also like to lose about a stone in weight (mainly to lose the slight beer belly!) so i have started the slim fast diet and do a cardio workout in between days at the gym. my questions are

is it ok to do a cardio workout as well as a weights program will i be wasting my time doing both together, burning off muscle for example?

Also i dont seem to be losing any weight doing cardio or on the slim fast diet even though i know from past experience that it works for me will my weights workout be making me put on that much weight that the weight loss through dieting isnt noticable??

Hope this makes sense. Any help appreciated...

Matt

Yes it is ok to do both.

No you wont loose muscle if you are eating adequately and trainning hard enough, but not overtraining or over cardio-ing

I suggest read the sticky 'Guide to...' and see how your diet stacks up to the suggestions therein. There could be 1 of 2 things going on. You are eating too many cals, and hence not loosing. Or you could be eating too few cals, in which case you body is in starvation mode and trying to hold on to your energy reserves a.k.a fat.

And welcome to IM
