I found these Uncle Ben's bowl's at the store. They are microwavable... perfect for when I need some quick protien and no time to cook.

They only have 3.5g's of fat.... and have 21g of protien.

Problem is they have 900mg of sodium

How much sodium should you be getting per day, and how much is unhealthy?

What are the con's of getting too much sodium?

I understand high bloodpressure is one of them... but since I do alot of cardio now wouldnt it nullify that?

You can not really say - It depends on your size, activity level, how much you sweat, how much you drink/pee at a lot of other things.

But the recommended intake most people is ~2000-2500mg/day.

For most healthy individuals it is not really much of a problem. It is not really a problem for blood pressure unless you already have high blood pressure everyone - or if you have problems with getting rid of your sodium (eg: bad kidneys/other diseases).

If you are cutting for a competition then you should be careful (bloatiness)

Although it is true that if you do a lot of cardio, then you will be 'sweating out' a lot of your sodium, and your daily requirements will therefore be higher. But once you hit about > 900-950mg/serve you really are talking about A LOT of sodium, so I would still be a little gaurded in eating them.

I wouldn't worry about the sodium as much as the fact that those foods are high processed. which means that the protein(s) are not going to have the same bioavialibitly as fresh or frozen protein from a supermarket, etc.

bascially the longer the list of ingredients on a food item the less nutritious it is
