How many days should I wait between crunches?

I've been doing crunches on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturday's, but I think that might be too short to let them grow.

Anyone know how many days I should wait between crunches?

You're fine.

Cool, I hope your right.

48 hours is fine.

Cool.

Today being Wednesday (it's nearly 3:30pm in Australia) I haven't done any crunches because I've had to do ther things. Would the ab muscles shrink at all?

Sorry if these questions sound stupid but I'm pretty new to all this type of stuff.

I recommend weighted ab work if you really want them to grow. You probably will need to take a little more time off though if you start using weight. Unless you are a female and your not trying to make your abs larger.

I'm a male, and as I said before, I am new to this stuff, so tell me, what does weighted ab work mean?

really training abs once/twice a week is the best they get A LOT of work from many non-ab related exercises but like every thing it depends on how much you do what intensity you do and how often you do things

I am 22 year old women. As of now I am doing crunches every day. I do about 50 crunches per day. My goal is to tone not get very bulky. Is this too often? Can I do them every 24 hours or do I need to wait 48 hours?

^ 50 crunches per day is not really going to achieve very much for you in any regard.

It is not enough exercise for a cardio workout; it is too much at a very low intensity to strengthen ab muscles; and the same workout everyday will have you plateau in about a week.

I am also doing a belly dance class every day for 1/2 hour, and am doing pilates every day for 20 minutes. Besides that I do 30 minutes of cardio dance every day. And by 50 crunches I mean I do 50 for each ab muscle group :lower, upper, love-handle area, and so forth. I also am eating healthily: lots of water, fruits and vegetables, and some lean proteins.

What else do I need to be doing, or what am I doing wrong and how should I change it?

Well for a start, that time you spend every day doing what is probably 200 crunches overall could be far better spent on some sort of resistence program.

If your goal is to lose fat, most of that is going to be down to you managing your diet properly (might want to take a look in the nutrition section). Obviously exercise is a factor, but your diet really is the main area you should be looking at.

Core work is important, but 200 crunches a day is overkill to the max. Stability work like planks should be included aswell as movements like crunches. Personally, i think it should be an equal ratio.

Just on a general level, you should try to include cardio and weight training in your training a few times a week. Core and flexibility work are also important, but can be done as part of a warmup/warmdown if needed.

I time my rest intervals in minutes or seconds instead of days.

Couldn't resist.

once or twice a week is fine .... for me i do very heavy cable crunches 3sets x 25 reps then 3 sets x 30-40 non weighted leg raises once or twice a week ..works more than enough for me ...

I usually wait two days. But right now I do core twice a week.

To get a six pack is it more important to get bigger ab muscles or to lose your fat?
