Yep. Look at the ingredients, you'll find Hydrogenated Oil in "regular" PB. I use Adam's and another organic brand sold at Costco.

Natty PB should have one ingredient:
- Peanuts
(although some brands may add salt).

While most regular supermarket brands of peanut butter have added ingredients, and it will usually go something like:
- Peanuts (~80-85%)
- Oil (to bind and prevent seperation at room temperature)
- Sugar (usually icing sugar)
- Salt

The reduced fat PBs are then worse than this - because it usually has less peanuts (down to as little as 60%!!) and more sugar (or a 'filler') is added to make up the difference .

Because of the added extra's the regular stuff has altered fat ratio's (the fats are not just the healthier peanut fats - as it has the added fats as well - which can include some trans-fats) and will have that lovely icing sugar added as well (and, if you are concerned, it also has increased salt).

There were a few studies done that showed most commercial brand peanut butter wasn't all that different from natural brands. Trans fat content is so minimal that it shouldn't be a concern. There's only something like .003 grams of trans fat per serving. I believe it would take like 300 tablespoons of peanut butter to consume 1 gram of trans fat. You'll have atleast 98% pure peanuts with jif or most other brands.

Are all natural peanut butters organic as well?
