Since i got a good feedback last time which is well appreciated... Need your help again, bros

How's my BB rows? Is my back low enough? I fear that if i go too low, my knee will get in the way during the eccentric move.

http://rapidshare.de/files/2004362/MVI_0205.AVI.html

My pull through sucks. I dont feel is hitting my hams well enough. I also tend to fall backwards during the eccentric motion. I just dont like them, same with sldl. I'll stick with lunges....Maybe I am wrong? Should I have my butt sticking out more, like sitting on a box?

Nice vid. You are using too much weight. Easiest way to know this, if your upper body moves up and down as you do your rows, then you have too much weight on the bar. If you want to continue with the weight that you are using, your best bet is to stand in front of a mirror, and do the exercise. Usually, if you can see what you are doing then you will be able to have better form. HOWEVER, if even after looking at yourself in the mirror while doing the exercise, you are still unable to keep your upper body from moving alot, then you need to drop the weight. Just drop it a little bit (take off the 10s on the sides), and that should do the trick.

One of the reasons I don't like rapidshare is because it is somewhat of a tease. Try to pull the vid down from here:

Let me know if I need to repost.

you should sit your hips back furhter. that will help faltten your back out.

that weight looks to heavy for you to handle. you are shrugging to much through out the movement which means you are engaging your traps during the exercise and not allowing your scapula to adduct fully. Make your form more strict and work on the strength of your lower traps and pec minor to keep that scapula depressed.

the angle you are at is not quite parallel to the floor which is fine. Some don't like to be that low. But, your elbows aren't driving straight back and you are again using to much trap.

I don't mind the slight hip pop to be explosive IF you can maintain a neutral spine adn you don't. You are rounding out and have no control of your posture on the negative.

all in all.....if you were my client. I would not let that lift fly for more more than 2 reps. I would drop the weight until you could handle it with better form. Sorry.

make sure you lok straight ahead. What i do is put 2 10 lb plates at the front balls of my feet and execute the row. Also, ease up on the weight.

Posted by: P-funk

I wouldn't look straigh ahead either. I would keep my cervical spine neutral and in a straigh line with the rest of my body. Looks straight ahead would cause not only you to place some strain on the cervical spine but it creates an anterior pelvic tilt because it changes the angle of your spine. This will place more pressure on your lumbar spine.

I would rather use a barbell over a cable for that movement, but that's just me.

thanks p-funk....you know a lot more than me and i believe you....
Hard to visualize what you're saying. So if i stick out my butt out more (or hips further out), at this position, i will bring the bar out to my chest thus targeting the middle back instead of my traps?
On this exercise, traps are one of the synergist muscle.
I know i am doing incorrectly, that's why i posted.. Same with pull-throughs, i hate those...

For real... what with Mr 3-Posts? Did he just register for the sole purpose of bashing this thread or somethin?

Posted by: Squaggleboggin

If you don't like the thread, why post and move it further up on the list of threads?

Posted by: P-funk

I think it is a good thread. talking about form and seeing people perform exercises is a great way for everyone to learn.

Posted by: min0 lee

I want to do the same with a few exercises that I feel I do wrong. How did he do the video thinga magig?

Posted by: pyro

I used a digital camera canon a95 that also takes vids. Look at cnet.com for reviews of other ones...
It gets confusing because there is so much misleading info and lack of detail in some sites that you end up following (exrx.net). And all along, you think you're doing right and guess what......
I try to avoid asking for feedback at my gym. You guys will laugh if i tell you what i see there...

yea, it is hard to get people to give you go feedback on form. When I work out it is always with trainers that I have high respect for so we hammer eachother on form. The one thing I have learned is that no matter how many times I teach it or how many times I do it I am still human and I still do things that make my form on certain exercises go off a bit. Just yesterday i was getting hammered for having my head jud forward during a bench press and people let me know about it. I knew it was wrong and I knew I was doing. I always do it! It is hard to break bad habits sometimes.

Posted by: juggernaut

Ive noticed that even when my trainer isnt there-I have his voice in my head telling me to watch my form. That's the sign of a good trainer.

yea. lol. One of my clients came to the gym with her friend one day and was showing her how to lift and do exercises and one of the trainers comes up to me and says "haha, I am watching your client basically train her friend and listening to her teach the exercises and she sounds just like you. the same verbal cues and everything." lol

The others have mentioned how to get the video. Once you get the video, upload it to your computer (you can use a cable from your video camara to the computer, or if you save it to a media card, hook up a media card reader to your computer, and download the vid). After that you can use a website to make the vid available to others. I don't like the one he originally used because, it's hard to figure out at first, and after you have downloaded so much stuff from their servers, they shut you out for a period of time. Better to go to http://www.yousendit.com. I found out about it from subfighter.com. It's free to upload vids to their server. Just put your own email as the person you are sending the vid to. It will give you a link for the vid. After a period of time, or after a certain number of downloads, the link will no longer work, but you can still upload again for free. Best to upload from a computer with a DSL modem or better.
