This is one thing I do not have. Lats! Will pull ups work?

Pullups / pulldowns / rows

Posted by: Mudge

Rowing movements first IMO, pullups are secondary.

rowing rocks, i like pulls and all but no where near as much as rows

Row, row, row your back.........watch it grow.

....merrily merrily merrily gently down the stream.

I hate rows. I can't get the form down right.

I feel to much arms when I do rows. Is there any way to correct this?

Yeah, form trouble with me too I think.

Help us on form?

for all back exercises you want to lead with the elbows. imagine trying to touch your elbows behind your back. you can also true using a thumbless grip, it helps not to squeeze the forearms so much on pulling exercises.

rowing shrugs

that right there is the form i use. You just really have to "put your back into it" heheh try that it really helped me with my form

And if you go too heavy it will be hard to keep the correct form because other muscles will help you "cheat" the weight back instead of your back doing the work.

Don't forget your classic deadlifts.

Probably the best single exercise for promoting freaky gains pretty much everywhere.

When you do deads... how wide is ur stance and grip? My old roomie weighed 143 and deadlifted just under 400lbs. He did a stance that was pretty wide.

foot placement and grip varies with the person due to personal preference. I hate deadlifting sumo style.

Hmm. Yeah I do wide, but not as wide as he did. I LIKE deadlifts, but I don't know that I use them 100% properly... because I know alot of people do them for back, though I never really get any noticeable benefit from them when it comes to back. I just use them after squats on leg day.

Am I doing somethin wrong if I don't feel them in my back?

I feel them in my back and in my glutes and hams. I feel them all over.

are you doing something wrong? The only way to know would be to see you deadlift.
