Does anyone know how much a trap bar weighs? Is it 45lbs? is it less?

This one is 54 pounds.

that one is very similar to the one in my gym, except mine doesn't have raised handles, the handles just go straight across, so I guess it is safe to assume, they can be anywhere from 45-55 lbs?

I just wanted to know if they were at least the same weight as a standard olympic bar, so that I can figure out poundages a little more exactly for shrugs.

hey mudge, by the way, what do you think about trap bar deadlifts?

trap bars are friggin awesome for deadlifting or farmers walks.

Anyone know of a good place to buy a trap bar?

elitefts.com has trap bars. they may be a little pricely though.

power-systems.com has them also. I don't know how durable they are. they are a little cheaper than elitefts I believe.

Those Captains of Crush grippers look like some very fine pieces of equipment. P-funk, I think I remember you saying you use them. Do you like them? Which one would you recommend starting off on? I'm thinking of the #1 but maybe that's too tough.

I love them! I would start with the trainer. Or get the trainer and the #1, they are pretty cheap. You can do reps with the trainer and statci holds with the #1.

It would be closer to a squat since you are removing the back from the movement a great deal.

I'm just curious, which one are you on now? Are they really as tough as they say they are or can you actually progress in reps and grippers at a reasonable rate?

Oh, they are really as tough as they say!! Those things are brutal.

I can close the number 1 for multiple reps (sets of 4-5). When I go to close the number two I get it close to fully closed but I have just a little bit more to go. I haven't tried it in a few months. maybe I should try again. I would love to close the #3.
