Vitamin Saturation??

My question is in regards to saturation points for vitamins. Is there any benefit to taking "performance" multi-vitamins that have greater than 100% of the recommended values. For example a normal multi-vitamin has 100% of Thiamin (B1) and a "performance" vitamin has 300%. Does the extra 200% have any true benefit? Or does the body only take the 100% and discard the rest as waste?

Any help/expert opinions would be appreciated.

Im going to bump this because I would really like to get some feedback. Thank you in advance.

Does it really matter? You pee out what your body doesnt need at the time. I take a multi-vit that requires you to take two pills, and I take one when i wake up, and the other 12 hours later, so that way, it's staged throughout the day.

I would say different lifestyles/body sizes would require different daily intakes.

ie. Lazy couch slob vs. bodybuilder

In terms of cost, it does matter. The performance multi-vitamin is about 2x the price of its normal counterpart. Why pay the extra money if there is no benefit?

I'd get the performance vitamin since most inexpensive multis are known to be underdosed and don't normally contain the amounts listed on the bottle.

Yeah, Id agree with what repeej says. As always, make sure you buy them from a reputable manufacturer.

I do that too. It's a good strategy I think.

Right. if you work out a lot you deplete the vitamins and minerals in your body and therefore need higher doses to replenish them.

I usually drink bleach for my vitamin intake.

I use Food-Based organic vitamins only. I take them in small doses 3 times a day with meals.

I asked a dietitian at my gym about this. She said it's a sound strategy. Your body doesn't need it all at once.
