Bicep injury

What kind of bicep injuries exist? I know there are torn biceps, but I heard you wouldn't even be able to move your bicep if you had a torn muscle. Everytime I curl with my right arm...I get a pretty deep pain...I attempt to ignore it...but I think it's hindering my ability to curl more. Anyone have any suggestions on recovery?

Have any idea how long something like this takes to heal? I mean you pretty much use your bicep, intentionally or unintentionally on all movements. Do I need to stop doing back and biceps? That would suck.

as long as you don't rip the muscle off the bone you will be able to bend it or at least move it through some sort of ROM even though it may be painful. The amount of time it takes to heal is dependant upon how bad the tear is. Stop doing back and biceps? I would stop benching and pressing too as the biceps still need to contract isometrically to stabalize weight. Go to the Dr. and get it checked out. In the meantime ICE it. Also, you may want to sling it up so that you aren't using it. Go ahead and keep training the other arm though as you can benefit from some cross over effect. Once you are able to get the other one working take it through a pain free ROM and work on it slowly until you get full ROM without pain.

Thanks for the feedback brothers...but what a bummer...I hate to think that I might not be able to work out my upper body for a while...sorta scary to think that you might loose everything you worked so hard to get...but I guess I should go see a doctor. But basically he'll probably just say stay out of the gym and rest it...lame.

Is it a sharp pain ar a burning pain??
I would take 2 weeks off and then go back light and see how it feels...that is if you don't see a Doctor first...I would recommend the latter.

Sharp pain. It sorta feels like it also runs down to my forearm a little bit. I think I had the same injury when I lifted 3 years ago. Then it hurt so much...I just stopped going. I think I was outta the gym for about a year until I got serious again. But yesterday I attempted to curl 20 lbs...and man did it hurt...But I just started taking Ibuprofen 3 times a day, and applying Icy Hot when I'm at home, and icing it. I'm just reluctant to go to the doc cause you already know what he's gonna say...it's inevitable..."Don't work out"

A sharp pain could be a tendon or ligament injury....better be safe and have it looked at.

keep a solid diet and you won't lose much - your body could probably use the rest anyway - if you do lose anything, it will be back in just a couple of weeks. two steps forward - one step back
