Bodyfat and Definition

Ive read that different people will see there abs at different bodyfat percentages. How low can a person's bodyfat percentage have to be if their genetics cause them to have (I guess)"softer" skin.

The reason I ask is I have a high metabolism and can see my abs but not with alot of definition. I cant pinch much fat off and in the mirror it looks nearly impossible for me to over 10 percent of my size to be fat. I havent been able to get my bodyfat tested yet so Im just trying to estimate.

Any help is appreciated.

I competed in a few natural shows, never once did I give a crap about what a body fat test said.....In fact I never tested it.....you are ripped or your not.

From your pics you're about 15-18% body fat.. Depending on your bone density and a few other factors..

15% of u r body weight is about 25 lbs... And the thing about fat is, it doesn't ONLY store on your stomach or where it's necessarly visible.. It's everywhere in a very thin layer, and more visible around your stomach.

You have no abs definition, and assuming you never worked out your abs, at this age you should have visible abs (at least 4 or 6) even if you don't flex @ 10% body fat...

I'm 17 @ 155 lbs, 6 ft, 9% BF, and i have visible ab definition, 8 pack (considering the rib-abs) when flexed.. Never worked out abs...

I use a clipper to measure BF, and it costs anywhere from 10 to 250 dollars... Mine was about 20$ ish... It's pretty accurate from what i think... I recommend you buy one if you dont belive me that you have 15-18% BF..

You look to be around 15% bf. If you live around a university, you can get hydrostatic weighing done. Also, some health clubs will charge around $50 bucks for the service if they have the equipment.

I have to agree with aggies1ut... Your pictures do not put you at under 10%. And you look around 15%.

In terms of what BF% you will see them at? Well it depends on lots of things - your genetics (some people carry more fat on their abs and need to get much lower), your shape (some body shapes show up abs sooner) and the quality of your abs (you can get rid of the fat - but unless you have the mass there you'll never show a '6 pack').

Most guys will usually need to get down to 10-12% before they see definition.

Ok, thanks. But thats whats odd, I have a very high metabolism, and I can cant pinch much fat on my stomach. Plus, my lifts are pretty high for my weight. I do drink alot of milk, if that makes a difference.

Where is the best place to get bodyfat calipers? Preferably cheap.

Thanks

Your metabolism may be high - but if your body doesn't need to burn that last layer of fat off (ie: if you don't create a calorie deficiency) then it will stay...

And the amount you can lift and the fact you drink milk have little to do with your BF

There are a few places online you can get them... You don't need anything fancy - just plain ones like:
These or these.

You could also check out your local BB/sports nutrition or vitamin store to see if they have them.
