I am about to start lifting with a firend of mine, he is about 240 and is looking to loss wieght and i am 150 trying to gain wieght. Can we both do the same routine and get the resulst we are looking for, or should we have different routines?
All help is appreciated!

Maybe similar routines, Both of your goals can be acheived through your diet!!! That is almost more important than the actual w/o's!!! Hope that helped!!!

Sure you can train together. Just be prepared to change weights every set. Odds are your strength levels will be pretty different.

you can do the same weight routine, however it might be a pain in the ass if theres a big discrepencies btw strenghth.
other than that, he should be dieting with a small calorie deficit, creating the deficit from cardio not from food restriction or else he will trigger his starvation response and his body will lower its metabilism.
you should be on a bulking diet along with maintence cardio, remeber it is always important to do atleast minumum cardio, your heart is your most valuable muscle!!!
