Why the hell do some people wrap only 4 fingers around the bar when bench?

Is this some special technique? I see people do this all the time. Damn it seems so dangerous!

Some people only have four fingers.

Sounds ridiculous to me... I've seen people wrap their hands to the bar, but never a 4 finger grip. That sounds dangerous

4 fingers? where do they put their thumb? Do you mean a false grip (thumbless) with the thumb on the side of the bar that the other fingers are on?

I useless a false grip on all pressing movements for chest, shoulders and for all back training

I never use it on presses. I usually use it on rows and pull ups though.

I didn't know it was referred to as false grip. But since you mention it, I too use this grip when doing triceps. I seem to get a more concentrated workout on my biceps using that grip. But for benching I would think it could prove to be dangerous unless you had your hands wrapped. I wouldn't want the bar slipping off and landing on my neck

Yeah (didnt know they had a name for it) does this give more tension or something?

For me when doing pushdown cable extensions for the triceps when I hold my palms down with my fingers all the way out (or curled in) using virtually no grip other than palm to bar I feel like instead of tending to want to use your weight as leverage to push the bar down you are using all arms. And of course going through the motion slow then you are getting a very concentrated focus on your tricep. Also doing it this way I believe you are using less forearm to aid in pushing the bar down as well. Again this directs the effort more on the targeted muscle.

It is to take away tension from bi's. E.g. for rows when you use a false grip, you use less bi's and the weight works more on your back.... If i'm wrong LAM or P-Funk will correct me.

That depends on what muscle group your working.
It allows for more focus to the immediate muscle being exercised.
Like I mentioned when doing triceps if you use full grip you tend to use other
muscles such as your forearms to push the bar down. At least that's my experience.
