In a recent thread someone brought up the number of glucose grams burned per set, my question what's the ratio from carbohydrate grams ingested and what is converted to glucose and furthermore is this energy then used up immediately or stored in the liver? Would this depend on how much is ingested to begin with?

Thanks

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong - i'm spouting this off the top of my head:

The amount of carbohydrate grams ingested that get converted to glucose is whatever is not fiber - glucose is the end product that the body wants to get from anything you eat. The amount of that that gets used immediately or gets stored depends on various factors....

- the type and amount of carbohydrate consumed (starch vs. sucrose vs. fructose vs. mix) and the time it takes to break down to glucose

- how much glycogen you already have stored in your muscles and liver (if you're "topped off" excess gets stored as fat)

- what exercise type, intensity and duration you're doing

I don't remember the exact numbers, ratios, etc. (which is the answer you really want, which HOLY CRAP is a very specific question for no apparent good reason other than satisfy curiosity, it seems).

In invite anyone else who knows this off the top of THEIR head to come in and fill in the blanks, or I can come back later when i have my book with me and can look it up for you.

Your explanation sounds good to me. It is an unneccesary question though I agree. As most people don't know/understand the different anaerobic/aerobic energy pathways anyway.
