Hi Guys, I am training for approximately an hour, 4 times a week. I weigh 185.6 lb & I need to lose some fat & tone up. My calorie intake is about 2000 per day.

I'm currently taking 'All the Whey' protein shake & with my current diet I seem to be consuming about 130 grams of protein a day!

Is this about right?

You could shoot for more protein

If youre restricting calories and trying to cut Id eat a lot of protein

You should prally try for more than 1 gram per pound of bodywieght if possible

whey is your friend
because if you want to cut body fat then eating a lot will not do you good
so you gota get the protein somewhere else
whey has for example 21 grams and 120 cals while a steak might hvae 21 grams of protein and 400 calories (just an educated guess)
whey is cheap, healthy, and natural
you might want to take in about 190 grams of protein and do a lot of excercise

You need to get in a little more protein than this - and aim for a minimum of 185g per day (1g for every pound of your body weight) - in reality, if you are trying to lose weight then in order to help prevent muscle loss you want to get more than this - with something like 1.25g for every pound of your body weight.

In terms of protein - don't just rely on whey - real food should be your first choice first - so what about adding in some chicken, fish, lean meat, eggs, skim dairy or game meats?

2000 cals is also not a lot of food for someone your size - and you want to be careful of this. Cutting calories too drastically is not going to help you in the long term... So by increasing your protein intake you will increase your calorie intake too, and this will be a good thing...

ok thanks guys, doany of you actually monitor your protein intake daily?

I try to but I almost never know. My mom makes food in ways where its all different and in sauce or not. I know I get around 60 grams of protein from one shake that I take post workout. Thats actually my only shake of the day.
