does anyone on this website know how long it takes for steroids to be out of your system? i dont mean the half life of sustanon being 3 weeks, i mean how long you have to be clean b4 a drug test for the military or firefighter service?

well there asking me for a urine sample b4 i join, they say for medical reasons,, i have my suspisions,, plus the firefighter and police services all have drug tests, i want to know how long i have to be clean b4 i go apply. i have to still be in good shape

I know several fire fighters ( LA, Chicago, Michigan and Arizona) my brother in law is a paramedic/fire fighter in LA, and all of them have juiced and not once were any of them been tested for steroids.....you must be overly paranoid because they do not test for steroids for fire fighters. Steroids are a prescription drug and some people have a legitimate purpose for using them ( prescribed by their Doctor) so I guess they are also asking you for your entire "confidential" medical history also.

I disagree with your statement. I don't believe steroids are a recreational drug. There looking for people who use recreational drugs..ie: weed, coke, heroine, acid and so on. Not steroids. Fuck if I was army personal, I'd want all my boys over in Irac to be juicying and instead of shooting the bad one's, BREAK THERE FUCKING NECKS WITH THERE BARE HANDS.

The federal government has set a standard used by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and it is called the NIDA-5 which is generally used to test new employees, and they test for Cannabinoids, Cocaine, Amphetamines, Opiates and Phencyclidine (PCP). Due to the large volume of drug tests companies usually have to administer, they look for the cheapest means possible which is urinalysis, so they won't be testing for anabolic steroids based on the federal guideline. They would have to specifically request a test for anabolics. You do need to watch out for any false positives you may be taking though. In my lab a few months ago I ran some gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry tests on a blood sample, and the concentrations of amphetamines were elevated making it a positive test, but the employee took Adderall which is a perscription medication for ADD, so if you take any form of amphetamine hydrochloride, amphetamine aspartate, or amphetamine phosphate for ADD/ADHD, tell them beforehand.

testing for steroids cost about 15x more than it does for recreational drugs. it is not peformed on a random basis

Any drug test requiring a laboratory analysis is going to be a lot more expensive. Urine tests can be done in house, but a more recent form of testing is mass spectrometry, they use it because of it's precision and accuracy but to test at and below 2 ng/ml, they need to run high-resolution mass spectrometry. I mainly work with an Inductively-Coupled Plasma mass spectrometer, and I don't know the exact price because my lab head won't disclose it, but just to run a simple spectrometry reading is quite expensive, and high-resolution tests are about double or triple the price because these machines aren't in every beginners chemistry kit in the world. The machines themselves run anywhere from $40,000-$200,000, plus they require an incredible amount of Argon gas to collect the sample readings, so these types of tests are in no way cheap or quick. They can test for anabolics in other ways, i'm just referring to the ones I have experience with. I know the WADA is starting to use mass spectrometry as one of their main sources of testing.

This is an excerpt from an article written by Stephen Seiler called "Doping Disaster for Finnish Ski Team; A turning point for drug testing?"
"I was visiting the German Sport University (GSU) in Cologne when the first positive test was announced. Besides being perhaps the world’s largest sports science and sports education program (6000 students), GSU is the location of one of the world’s 24 WADA-certified drug testing laboratories. The man I talked to had just returned from the WADA laboratory in Helsinki. Hidden away on the seventh floor of an 11-story academic building, high performance gas chromatography andmass spectrometry are the big guns in an impressive arsenal of detection methods. Eleven combination HPCG/mass-spec machines sat in one room! The chemicals in the urine are transferred and concentrated into organic solvents. Under high temperature 2-microliter liquid samples become gaseous and are pushed through 17 to 60 meters of super-fine separation tubing to detect banned substances. With eleven HPGC units running, each with their own heating units designed to raise solvent temperatures to 300°C, even the special cooling system in the room is not enough to stop it becoming a sauna. The lab technicians work in T shirts, but the serious looks on their faces tell you that they know what is at stake. By virtue of its structure, each chemical compound moves through the tubing at a different, highly reproducible speed, making separation possible. Separation by HPGC and exact identification by mass spectrometry comprise a "finger-printing" system that can detect the majority of banned substances. A few others are revealed using other methods such as liquid chromatography (HPLC). In the Cologne lab alone, 10,000 human urine samples and 4,000 horse urine samples are tested annually. "

thanks for the input guys, i guess i am paranoid, i just dont want to jeperdize my career. I guess i could look at the fact that most of the cops i see definatly look like there on the sauce, i just thought maybe they checked b4 hand and after there free to do whatever they want. I totally agree with tougholdman, they should require them to be on juice, it would only inhance there preformance, anyway i dont have to worry about any recreational drug except for weed, i know this is unrealted but can anyone tell me how long weed stays in your system for?

Worst case scenario.....If by some off chance they tested for steroids and caught you, just say "I was on Vacation a few months ago in Europe and tore a muscle the Doctor gave me a shot of some type of steroid to heal it".....this way its not something on your American medical records, it is a drug given by a legit Doc ( not one in Mexico) and they really cant argue with you about it.
