Hi

I'm 15 and I was wondering what the Recommended Daily Allowance for fat is for someone of my age. Currently, my daily fat intake is around 50g. Is this healthy?

Many thanks

Jack

Don't base your intake on the 'recommended daily' levels of anything. They are just guidelines for the general public so they don't get too much saturated fats.

If you ensure that most of the fats you eat are unsaturated (from olive oil, avocado, fatty fish, nuts, seeds, nut butters etc etc) then you don't really have to worry.

Your intake should be based on your weight (lean mass esp), your goals, your training/activity level, your personal preference and your bodies ability to handle carbs (carb sensitivity).

There is a 'minimum' level I suggest for everyone - but not a maximum.

But, with that said, 50g does not sound too bad and it is probably enough for you. If you give us more information about yourself (what else you eat and when you eat it, how you train/when you train, what your weight is, your goals, etc etc) then we might be able to give better advice.

I don't really have any goals as such - I just want to keep fit and not become fat and make sure I'm in good shape.

I run 3 miles, three times a week and at school I do a lot of PE (circuit training, soccer, etc)

Any help much appreciated.
