Ill also take an apple/banana/carrots with me. You shouldnt eat any fried food, and stuff like that. If you want to see some results, cut out all sodas and replace it with water. Diet does have to be pretty strict if you want to see results. You can "optimally" lose 8 pounds of FAT (2 per week) in a month, anymore than that and youre not just losing fat but lean body mass. Etc, etc.. Theres lots of info on the site, but if you want to see some REAL results, its going to take a stricter diet, and you will have to change some things, and set your priorities. I work and am a full time student, but I realize that I want to look better, so I try as hard as I can to accomplish that by making sure I eat right, I eat atleast 5 meals a day, etc. You defenitely need to figure out how much youre eating now (in calories) and cut that a little bit to have your calorie decifiency (burning more than you take in). If youre going to eat fast food, look at the nutrition guides online and see what suits your intake needs. Get stuff like chicken sandwhiches, mashed potatoes, potatoes (not fries). |

Your body cant digest all that food at one time, hence you need to have 4-6 even meals during the day, which should be 2.5-3 hours apart. There are no "3 main meals." I myself have 400-500 calorie meals 5 times a day. It does take some getting used to eating 5 smaller instead of 3 big meals, but that is a major thing if you want to lose weight, and overall be healthy. Your metabolism keeps working if you feed it regularly. You dont really ever want to eat to the point where you are so full, you need to open your pant button, or that you feel your stomach is going to burst. You want to eat to be satisfied/not hungry, but you dont want to eat to be full.
I usually dont count fruit as a calorie source, or else ill just estimate 40-50 calories or something per fruit. If you are eating 4-6 meals, 2.5-3 hours apart from each other, you shouldnt really have the need to snack on anything. If I get hungry, and its been like 2-3 hours between my last meal, ill just have another meal, instead of eating a snack. You should eat fruits though, for the vitamins and such. |

For people just trying to be "healthy" and lose weight, you dont have to be so strict. Follow a healthy diet, exercise portion control, and dont worry about 6 meals a day. thats a good thing to do, but its not going to make a big difference. The main thing is that you never stuff your face in one sitting. Have a good healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner, and get in some good healthy snacks throughout the day to keep your metabolism going.
Are you working out with consistency and hard? Thats a big help in weight loss. A good baseline diet would be to have plenty of healthy high fiber whole grain carb sources, lean meat sources, plenty of fruits and vegetables, and healthy balanced meals. no cokes, no sweets, and no fast food. I lost about 20-30lbs and dropped 5% bf by just applying those principles, eating every few hours, and working out. I never counted cals. You know what is junk food and what is not, everyone does. Keep motivated and good luck. |
