if you work out more often and reduce the work done per session can you still make just as good gains? although some muscle groups may overlap each other if your working out pretty much every day you will be hitting the exercises with a lot more energy - for example if i split up the exercises done for the back, on one day do pull/chin ups + pull downs and then on another day do bent bb rows and shrugs.
Or dya think its better to bunch it all together and just not be as fresh for the latter exercises to avoid overtrainin???

I'd post the whole workout and split you are thinking about. Being a severely overtrained idiot I'm not the greatest one to ask. I personally think what you are saying will be counterproductive depending on your goals.

If you have to ask, you are probably trying to rationalize your overtraining.

The question itself leads me to think the answer is no. You make gains by overloading your body and then giving it the time and nutrients to recover and get stronger. Reducing your workload for any reason is counterproductive. That's just my version of logic though.

I love full body workouts. If you are thinking about something like that, then check out my writeup on designing one. Full body workouts are great for a variety of reasons.

You may also consider an upper-lower split. Those are totally acceptable as well, and another one of my favorite splits. I'll probably be sticking with these two splits for quite a while. Split training is boring.
