Ultraviolet light and gear

since ultraviolet lights kill bacteria, could it be plausible to keep your gear stored next to one to help kill bacteria? would this be harmful to the gear? I'm paranoid and when dealing with gear you can never be too safe... plus i was looking through this little novelty catalog with an ultraviolet tooth brush holder and i could totally turn it into my ultraviolet gear holder

the most common cause of infection is injection technique rather than unsterile gear. Unless the gear is really badly made then its unlikely to contain bacteria...However an ultraviolet gear holder! that would be pretty cool

haha man a little tooth brush holder isn't gonna do shit!
and it's not necessary like Stu said, if you need to take some bacteria out, you might as well not use it and get some good stuff instead.
Most of the a.s. is not that bad but if you doubt it don't use it and get better shit.

Why don't you just throw it into a water bath about 175 degrees for 45 min's. Any Bacteria left over after the bath is probably not going to be harmfull. cool for a spell and Then shoot it CRASH

Doesn't gear need to be kept in a cool, dark place to last?

UV destroys and causes breakdown, look at a cracked dashboard for example. I dont know for sure but I sure wouldn't do it. Why do you think offhand it says away from sunlight?
