Is it good to have a banana with my PWO shake? I couldn't find a post that regards it to the PWO shake..... I'm trying to gain weight too.

thanks

yes you need some form of simple carbs 20min or so after your workout....I always have 60g whey, 1 banana, and 6 oz of concentrated syrupy juice mixed with water and ice.

This is really the only time you need simple carbs IMO

uh oh haha.... i take creatine right after lifting and my shake about 25 mins after that.... should I have my banana right after lifting or with the protein shake?

thanks for the quick reply man

the creatine has vitargo in it, 60g.... im not sure if that madders though

I took Vitargo....It along w/ any other reatine mix should be taken on an empty stomach IMO....mix plain creatine mono w/ some type of simple carb like juice.

Vitargo is already mxed w/ sugar so just have plain w/ water afterward...wait 20 more minutes and get 40-60g of protein in....I would just eat a protein rich meal 30min after the Vitargo.

Vitargo is a bitch to mix....It stays so thick especially at the bottom of your glass good creatine product though.

I think a banana isnt the best choice because it may have a GI of 120 which is high, the GI Load is 13 which is a moderate level.

Have your protein shake straight after training + your required carbs and the crreatine... Do not seperate it by 25 minutes....

Also - One banana will not be enough - but how much you want for carbs will vary depending on your weight/BF and goals.

Then wait for ~60 minutes to have another meal (carbs, protein and fats).

taking his creatine (Vitargo) w/ food, protein, any other source of cal, decreases the % of absorbtion.

Banana does not have a GI of 120. It has a GI of ~50-55 with the average of all the studies done is ~52 (so the GI is lower than sweet potato and is about the same as brown rice)... But yes, for a serving size of ~120g the GL is moderate at ~13.

It doesn't decrease the % absorbed - it will just alter speed of absorption...

You want both protein and carbs PWO - you are wasting have the anti-catabolic effects of the carbs in the supplement if you do not combine it with an adequate level of a good quality WPI.
