stiff leg or traditional dead lifts?

which one is best for mass building? my lower back lost a lot of muscle during a cut and i need to rebuild it, so my back program is deads, pull ups, seated rows and incline shrugs.....but i always seem to use poor form, regardless of the weight, when i do normal deads.....are stiff leg deads just as good or worthwhile at all?

I only do SLDL's never normal dead lifts, I think if you do squats and are not an Olympic or Power lifter you dont need to do normal dead lifts.

I also only do SLDL as well on back day. Work on getting your form down!

sldl on back day?

will stiff deads work the ass as much as normal deads? (keep in mind on leg day i do squats, this machine where i strap around the ankle and pull weight backwards, extensions, curls, and lunges).......my split is chest/ calves, legs, rest, arms, rest, back/ shoulders, rest......trying to bulk up with an ~4250 cal diet

How about you alternate which one you do weekly? They are both great exercises. The main differences are that there is knee extension involved in deadlifts which bring your quadriceps into play; also, there is generally a greater amount of spinal extension which brings your back into play more.

I always do stiff-legged.

I couldn't live without either. Deadlifts have always been my all-time favorite exercise, but they are now being moved from that place - there's really nothing like a good, solid clean and press. There's just something about catching that weight in front of you perfectly and then pressing it over your head that makes me tear up...

I work my hams with back day. At the top of the motion for SLDL, I do a shrug motion which hits my traps well. I don't feel I get as much out of regular deadlifts, especially since I already do squats.
