retaining strength post cycle

This is a question for all you vets (tough, foreman, gococks, mudge)

Are there certain practices to increase the amount of strength you can retain post cycle? I took a big step back last time and am approaching the end of my 2nd cycle and want to keep as much strength as I possibly can...

What do you suggest?

And please don't say "don't cycle off"

I do short cycles 6-8 weeks so I never have a problem with post cycle. Right now I am 7 weeks post cycle and I am at 100% still, actualy got stronger up to the end of week 2 post cycle....I ran a 7.5 week Test/Deca cycle.

Nope, I don't use any of that stuff anymore. I would use creatine post cycle but it cramps me up so bad I can't workout.

I didn't change a thing yet with the weights , all I did was bump up my cardio a bit.

my little brother foreman is the only one on this board that holds all his strength after PCT. Generics was in his genes and a big dick was in my jeans

creatine helps retain some of the water PCT, thus helping to retain strength and LBM, there are also the independant benefits of the creatine (faster rate of recovery, better endurance, increased strength) and these all combine to help keep gains PC, creatine is also non-hormonal of course, so it is an ideal PCT supp as the HPTA is not effected

That's about the only time I run Creatine anymore is PCT. I found last time coming off my cycle for a little while my strengh was till increasing during PCT a little. Young D, I'm a few weeks behind you but I'll be stopping around the first of the year. I ran this one a little longer only cuz I'm laid off and bored so I have more time to get in the gym, although I've seen my overall weight gains suffer a little in part by being able to sleep much longer than when I'm awake and eating constantly

I can maintain large amounts of lower body strength post cycle, but little by little my upper body strength dwindles (bench presses, rows etc).

Knowing how diet and training affect you, are your best bets, as well as getting the rest you need and so on. There is no specific statement I can think of that will fit everyones bodytypes, you have to figure this stuff out somewhat on your own.

I think Mudge is dead on about that. I know of people that continue lifting just as much with no strength loss, libido loss etc during pct. It is just life as normal for them. I can't seem to keep my back strength or upper-body size, and I always put on fat. PCT is the toughest part of it all. Learning how to combat the change in hormones is very difficult, and there are few absolutes. Generally speaking, IMO one should:

Keep workouts shorter than on cycle
Reduce volume and possibly frequency
Limit or eliminate cardio
Eat at least what it takes to maintain your body weight
Eat real clean (whole grains, fruits, veggies, limit fat)
Aim for 9 hours of rest/night

Personally, I try to continue to lift the same weight on each exercise. I may drop from 5 sets of an exercise at a given weight to 2 sets, then slowly work back up towards more sets as my body adjusts.

Yeah, if you have a testosterone level of 5-10x over normal post cycle there is just no way you are going to retain the same strength permanently.

If your strength is close to what is was naturally, then perhaps your chances are fair.

Bottom line is that a cycle and pct properly done is 3 steps forward and one step back......no big deal and a good trade off.....as long as you don't let it go to your head.

This is true as long as you don't start a cut and cut cal's down to fast. Otherwise your fucking crazy and need to be banned.

MinOlee ban this fool.

with my 2 or 3 m1t cycles i never lost an ounce of strength, but i am also worried a little about what will happen in 3 weeks when im all done and getting into pct. Maybe ill keep all my strength im just going to think positive

but i would just keep your cals high, or maybe even a slight increase depending on how lean you are trying to stay, and dont get to crazy with the cardio. Thats the best of my suggestions and most likely what i will do
