Shorted on Supplements

Has anyone ever been shorted on supplements? That is, have you purchased a supplement only to find that you received less than labelled?

I got an order for NOW brand Dextrose last order I made and just got bored today while couped up in my room studying for finals, so I decided to weigh the dextrose (random, I know). My digital scale weighs to the nearest 2g, and I bought two 2-pound bags of NOW Dextrose. Both unopened bags weighed out to under 2 pounds including the packaging weight (plastic bag).

Exact weights were: 906g and 894g.
Two pounds is exactly 907.18474g (NOW Dextrose packaging says 908g)

Not a huge deal since Dextrose is rather cheap, but come on... where is the quality control?

Has anyone else had similiar experiences?

I'll send you my bulk dextrose, maltodextrin, protein, dicreatine malate, taurine, aakg and citrulline malate. So you can measure them for me and have fun! Lol

As a food aditive, dextrose is regualated by the FDA. They could care less if you are being shorted as long as it is safe to consume.

It was a legit question.

Pirate, I thank you for being the only one who took my question seriously. I don't understand what the big deal with me weighing the bags were . It took me less than a total of 10 seconds to do. My digital weight scale was on my desk, I was bored, took a quick break from studying and clicked on the scale, popped on the bag, compared the numbers... less than 10 seconds of work.

But yes, ultimate conclusion I made was the same as yours: At least they were only $3/each. I think I will go through the website you gave me and buy in bulk next time depending on how much of this stuff I plan to use in the future.

Hey, I was just giving you a hard time. After all, you did ask for it. I figure most stufff we buy is not as accurate as they say. I wouldn't be shocked if gas stations shorted you a few tenths/ gallon.

We value your time. We're sad you wasted 10 seconds plus the time to post

Hey - I happen to think that it is a VERY valid point.........Our scales HAVE to be checked and certified by the State and we take it very seriously and I hope that other companies do as well........ one pound here, one pound there, and suddenly people get greedy and the consumer gets screwed.

Here is the question all science nerds have been waiting to hear.

How old is your digital scale, and when was the last time it was calibrated? While the variability is disturbing, it's not so much an issue if your scale reads 12g light.

you should start weighing the food you buy as well, i bet some of thats 2 or 3 grams under what it says on the packet

for every item you find which is under the correct weight you should probably start a new thread just to let everybody know. i feel this would be a very constructive use of your time

Pisses me off. The man paid for 208g of dextrose, and darnit, he deserves his 15g of dextrose, its not the value, its the principal of the thing. Somebody asks for X, youd better give em X, not X-.1, or thats some jacked up crap.
