Carbohydrates at Night?

I know that we don't need a lot of carbs at night, since our metabolism slows down at night. But I also know that competition bodybuilders consume carbs at night, so my questions are: Should I add some carbs to my night times protein shake? And if I'm 6'2" and 185 Lbs (Trying to lose fat and gain lean muscle mass), how much carbs should I eat at night (from 6pm to right before to bed) and what carbs are good at that time?

Thanks in advance!

What time of day are you training?

Some days I train in the morning like from 9am to 10:30am and other days I train in the afternoon. Around 1-2pm to 3:00pm. Never after 4pm.

Then no, I would not suggest you having carbs in that shake if you are trying to recomp.

Now if you are eating 6 meals a day and meal 5 you want to add some complex carbs then that would be good but your last meal of the day should be protein and healthy fats only during a cut or recomp. If your diet is severly lacking carbs then of course it wouldn't hurt but then I would be kline to rework your meal planning and fit your carbs in earlier in the days especially centered around pre and post workout.

Tonite I had a pathology class. From 5:45pm to 9:05pm and we only had a 15 min break, so I had a bag of unsalted peanuts. I ate it all during that time, even though the fat in peanuts is good fat, how bad can it be all that fat (the packet was 99g and a 28g serving had 12g of fat, 8g of carbs and 7g of protein) and carbs at that time of that day? Today was my rest day. I went to the gym Mon, Tue and Wed, then off today, then again Fri and Sat.

I think that's too much fat in one sitting. 45+ grams of fat!!

Ok, I went to the gym at night. I finished working out at 8:30pm, after it I got my protein shake, but is ok to have two more meals with carbs after that shake? Let's say some rice with ground beef and vegetables, and maybe a whole wheat bread pb sandwich?

are you consuming carbs with your protein shake PWO? your meals should be centered around your training so your PWO and PPWO at night following your training should include carbs. don't worry so much about the time of day.

Yeah, my post w/o shake has an approximate of 89g of carbs (a mix of maltodextrin, dextrose and brown rice syrup) and 42g of protein (whey and egg whites protein).
