Am I Doing Too Little?

I am currently trying to lose about 20 pounds (my freshman 20, yikes), and I am 142.

So far I've been eating about 1300 calories per day, using the stationary bike for 30 minutes everyday, and doing a 30 minute full body aerobics tape 5 days a week.

Is this enough to get down to my goal weight?

wow, you are cute.

Thats my two canadian cents worth...

great job counting the calories and doing cardio, i think your doing enough. just monitor your weight and see how much you lose each week. aim for about 1 lb a week. (btw you look gorgeous in your avatar)

My opinion is that 1300 calories is too low for you. At your age and activity level, you should be losing weight at significantly higher energy intake. I would post your diet in the diet section and try to get Emma or Jodi to critique that bad boy. They will direct you on working your calories back up, and then bringing them back down with your new and improved metabolic efficiency.

In terms of training, you probably don't need to be doing so much cardio. You should get into resistance training as well. Resistance training 2-3 days per week and cardio an additional 4-5 days per week would be more than enough to help you achieve the goals you seek assuming a proper diet.

Check out my writeup on designing a full body routine. You may consider doing them in a circuit for additional metabolic benefits. As well, don't be afraid to lift heavy relatively speaking. Resistance training will help you maintain your muscle mass as you cut and keep your metabolism out of the crapper.

As far as cardio, I would consider interval training and/or higher intensity forms of cardio. Doing resistance training complexes and sprints are great too. Although the sessions are shorter and often caloric expenditure during the exercise session is a bit lower, the boost in metabolism that lasts hours after the sessions ends is where you get the most benefit.

I looked at your pics, and I really dont think that fat is your issue, It seems like you need to develop some kind of weight training program and replace the bike or tape. IMO the weights will help you tighten up your trouble areas.

theres a moderator called bigbadpussycat or something, talk to her, she will be able to help you, but becareful with her as sher lacks a sense of humour!

good luck!

dude its easy first year of college if your not careful

I second the advice that CowPimp gave. Sounds like a good direction to shoot for.

Just don't go all out bulimic again brazeneye.

Yea, don't develop an eating disorder obviously.

Though, your body is awesome in your pics, the kind of girl I like to see.

I think losing 20 is too much... you will look too skinny.

Also 1300 calories doesn't seem like enough to maintain that level of activity... are you always hungry? You might be in starvation mode with just 1300 calories.

I was never bulimic, I tended to binge eat, but never purge

I'll be back to my picture weight if I lose 20 pounds, those pictures were taken before the weight gain.
