anyone do wide grip benchpress? what is a beneift of doing it?
Posted by: Hlanderr
wide as in real wide im assuming
i dont really know about that one, but doing the motion right now (kinda ridiculous, i know), it feels as if it would be more stressing on your shoulder ligaments and wrists.... i dont think it would effect thhe chest differently at all, as you cant really "target" different "areas" of the chest (i.e. inner, outter, upper/lower pectorals)
you can SORT of gain strength in that lift, as you are hitting it from a different angle, as in for example you would get strong on the incline bench if you did inclines along with a flat bench workout
also i cant say i see people doing it in the gym either, not that that says anyways at all in terms of great lifts, but thats just what ive experienced.... so far

How wide are you talking???

At a certain point the stress placed on your shoulder joint outweighs any benefit of being able to use increased resistance.
