Super Bowl question

Did anyone else see what I did? Did Mike Holmgren stiff Bill Cowher? I saw Cowher walk to the 50 yard line to shake Holmgren's hand and Holmgren never showed up. Cowher must have waited five minutes or so but Holmgren was a no-show. I've been listening to radio, checking ESPN.com, etc. but can't find a single thing about it. Did I miss something?

If what I saw really happened, what poor sportsmanship. I don't care if the refs screwed the Seahawks or not, the coach should have shown more class than that.

Coher paid off the refs thats why Holmgren was upset.

Sorry but I have to agree with the official's review. Last night I took the video of that play and zoomed it by x1,000,000. You can clearly see one dimple of the pigskin crossing the goal line.

That call doesn't bother me. The so called push-off in the end zone. Should have been a TD instead they had to settle for a field goal. Also there was a hold that no one saw who was watching TV. Bunch of pathetic calls.

Holmgren did stiff him.

Yup, Holmgren didn't shake his hand.

That's SUCH poor sportsmanship........regardless if the refs fucked up a few times or not.

By the letter of the rules, that was a push off. Should it have been called...Yes. Should the NFL loosen the pass interference rules next year...Yes.

I have to agree. Although it was INCREDIBLY controversial, he definetly "pushed" off. The DB seemed to jump back for a different reason though, not from the push.

The goaline play was also correct. In mid-air (from what I've seen), the ball just breaks the plane. If they overturned that, which I was routing for, it would have been a major mistake...... there wasn't any conclusive evidence to overturn it.

Not to mention that ref had the lowest overturn percentage in the NFL (23% overturned calls)

Offensive PI is almost never called. Trust me, I got away with it my whole career.

From ESPN.com

Hasselbeck hit Darrell Jackson with an apparent 16-yard scoring pass in the first quarter, but the play came back when Jackson was called for offensive pass interference. It was a touch foul. Jackson extended his arm, yes, but both players were fighting for position, and he didn't create any separation by doing so. It was like a referee calling a hand-check in a key moment of Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

The Seahawks had to settle for three instead of seven.

Still, that was early, and that one didn't change the game as much as did a holding call against Sean Locklear early in the fourth quarter with Pittsburgh leading 14-10. That one wiped out an 18-yard catch by Stevens that would have taken the ball to the 1. Locklear supposedly held Clark Haggans, so instead of first-and-goal at the 1 and the chance to complete a 98-yard touchdown drive and take a three-point lead, Seattle faced first-and-20 at the 29.

That is 100%, undiluted bullshit. If you watch the replay and look at the defender's feet you'll clearly see they came off the ground and went BACKWARDS. Unless someone was standing on the sideline with a rope tied around his waist and pulled him backwards, Jackson pushed off.

Having said that, I don't think it should have been called. If they'd called it consistantly throughout the season, fine. But to pull it out of the hat during the Super Bowl is wrong.

ALBOB, I didnt say that why are you quoting me as saying that. Dale said that.

hawks got fucked

Nah, the 'Hawks f**ked themselves. When you can't punch the ball in and settle for field goals that your kicker can't even make, you don't deserve to win.

I have not read the rest of this thread, but Holgrem went (I heard) to the locker room to congratulate Cowher.

I think it was more out of frustration about the officiating than poor sportsmanship.

The PTI guys were saying it was not intentional, it was a non-issue. They said it gets crazy after the game and he prolly just couldn't get there. I don't know about all of that, but Holmgren was slurping Cowher pretty hard after the game so I imagine it was nothing.
