kneeling squats

I've been trying kneeling squats as a way to train up my hips and arse some and while I was pretty uncomfortable for the rest of the day sitting down ....I did notice that immediately after I had a pretty big pump in my quads

I thought this was more of a backside exercise? Anyone else experience the same thing? I don't think there's too many ways to screw up kneeling squats.

what the hell is a kneeling squat?

I guess he is talking about Lunges.

That would be my guess.

I am intrigued on this fact as well. I have nevr heard of them. If it involves kneeling with weight on your shoulders, hell no.

Maybe I got the term wrong.

in the rack, on your knees....with padding....weight on your sholders, sit back back till your hams connect with your calves and then fire up with your glute's/hips.

It's a pretty short distance of travel....but it works your posterior pretty good.

Fuck that crap. Sounds bad. Then again its your body. I would love to see someone do 315 pounds like this. then again maybe it is a light weight exercise.

sounds like a great way to fuck your back up big time. You don't have your hips to even out the load.

I do quadraped hip rocking (similiar to what you are describing but in a 4 point stance) with clients that need to work on spinal stabalization and loosening up their hips. But, we do this with no weight.

stop doing that exercise.

m'kay...not doing heavy weights....just trying to train up the lower part of the squat (where I'm weak). What's better? Bottom squat off the pins?

that is better yes.

before you do that though why not just stop squats in the hole. squat down, sit there and stay tight for a good 3-5 count and the explode out of the hole.

To me they look like nothing more than leg extensions without the machine and with limited ROM. I don't think that will help you with the bottom of your squats.

How would this train the lower part of your squat? Sounds like a better way to fuck up the coordination in your squat, since your hips are completely extended when the knees are bent at 90 rather than the way they are supposed to be done.

no shit they suck. But if you want to work your strength out of the bottom they are a good exercise. I like them.

Thanks....I think I'll be switching that up.

Box squats are great for developing starting strength in the squat as well.
