Does anyone here just consume normal food? None of the nifty products that can be purchased from a GNC or other store. I've never been one to use, what I consider, unnatural means to looking and feeling good. Although I am using a protein powder now, just to give me a little more muscle building power.

I think without the supplements my diet would still be balanced and 'normal'. I did notice that I felt better when I started being careful about my diet. Here it is minus the protein shakes and supplements:
Breakfast: 1cup of oatmeal with some mixed fruit, 3 poached eggs
Lunch: 1 cup of rice with 1 cup of tuna.
Dinner: 1 baked potato, some steamed vegitables, and a piece of meat, usually chicken, sometimes steak.
Night time snack: 1 piece of fruit, usually a banana or apple, and some nonfat cottage cheese.

MASS ABOVE ALL

It very difficult for most people to get the protein they need only from whole food. Too much time and work involved, so most folks add protein shakes to their regular meals.

I did it once...230g. Ended up eating 3 eggs for breakfast, a pound of lean ground beef and 3 cans of tuna during the day, and some natural peanut butter on half a bagel And fish for supper. Ain't know way I can do that everyday. Costs too damn much and I was full.

I use bars and powders out of convienence.
It would be hard to bring 3 meals to work.

Exactly! Its too hard and/or expensive and/or pain-in-the-ass to actually get the high protein diet required for weightlifting and bodybuilding entirely from whole food.
And even when it is possible you need a lot of cardio in your regimen to get the metabolism up to process the food to avoid over-fullness and/or War-and-Peace length bathroom excursions!
