The worst trade of the winter just keeps on getting worse for Nationals' GM Jim Bowden. Alfonso Soriano, for whom Bowden gave up two very serviceable players in Brad Wilkerson and Terrmel Sledge, is still refusing to play left field and left camp for the Dominican WBC team with the issue unresolved. Since Soriano is a free agent after this season, Bowden knew he was essentially getting himself a rent-a-year player. But you could make the case Soriano is one of the worst defensive second basemen in history and all he's bringing to the Nationals is grief for manager Frank Robinson The Nationals have made it clear they won't move three-time All-Star second baseman Jose Vidro. Soriano made it clear he wasn't happy about it. If told by Robinson to play left field, would Soriano respect the manager's wishes? "Who knows?" Soriano said. |
