I am one of the geeks that plays this game and when this was first released I didn't spend an hour not hearing about it for nearly a month. btw.. HORDE RULES! haha
I never have actually seen the video but I find it amusing that it really was made a question on Jeopardy. Something that SoE failed to accomplish lol.

I played this game too. It's likely to be the best game I've ever played by production standards, but it's own on line population was it's downfall for me. It got way too hardcore. If you didn't have a minimum of 5 hours a day to play it was impossible to keep up, and even at 5 hours a day you were considered a "newb." The community was dominated by people you saw on that film, like the guy going "Christ." That reminded me so much of why I quit playing. So much of the game becomes business, and guys like the raid leader in that video act like asses to everyone and make up most of the population. It opened my eyes though, pushed me away from online gaming because once you get sucked in it's very enticing to put aside parts of your real life for a very unproductive hobby.
*PS Muscle Girl, For the Horde!!!

Besides world of warcraft, what other games exist that are similar? A lot of people playing at the same time...

WoW is the biggest one right now. Everquest 2 is out, but it seems to not be doing too well. Guild Wars is fun because it's not nearly as demanding or as hard core, and doesn't have a monthly fee, but it doesn't have a "world" like the others do, it's more like playing a video game alongside other people. Warcraft (WoW) and Everquest 2 (EQ2) have an economy and simulates a fantasy world that people inhabit. There's an online Dungeons and Dragons MMO coming out very soon. I predict that it'll become popular simply because alot of people are beginning to get tired of WoW and would like a break, but it won't last long I think. Not to mention the D&D crowd is probably more saturated with the 40 yr, parent basement crowd whereas the others tend to be more of college students and just-borderline geeks (although they still have their share of the 40 yr old virgins). In last place there's Matrix online and then Star Wars Galaxies, both good games but the community is becoming nonexistant. As far as how demanding they are, Guild Wars I like because it's like a single player game in that you can acquire the good items just by playing it. The other games only the top 1% of players can get certain items, making them that much better. Star Wars has been dumbed down for the more general public, which is their new approach to bring in new customers but has alienated the veterans. Matrix last I played was buggy but fixes alot of the problems that the others seem to have, such as having to put in 70+ hours per character to see all the game has to offer.

Yeah but I dont want to be a wizard or something like it. That game Sims, dont they have something similar? I mean, I would have more fun meeting people in virtual bars and virtual strip clubs.

Sims online? I have no idea how it's community is right now. You would have to check out message boards first. It's pretty much a glorified chat room, where you can "dance" and stuff like that with other online folks. But since then the single player, off line sequel has come out so I don't know if people are still playing Sims Online

The game I played is called "There."
This game is exactly what you speak of. It is like The Sims, but much better.
Some dude got in a jetpack, and tapped his mouse button down and went to bed. When he woke up the next day, he was still ascending and in space looking down at earth. That's how big it is...

It seems that you need to pay a fee. Thinking about it I guess Sims is not the right model, I would like something like Sims mixed with GTA..
It would be more evil.

I bet you internet nerds might know this. Where did that "Power Level 850,000?!?!?! IMPOSSIBLE" thing originate from?

I used to play Warcraft 3 a lot. Prob 3-5 hours a night. Ridiculous. This was before I got serious about lifting. I would think about it all day and couldn't wait to get home to play it. I still do think about picking it up one of these days but its just to addicting. Its seriously like a drug. My one friend keeps pushing me to get WOW but I just say NO. It looks awesome though. I miss gaming.
