Ok, so I don't have a gym membership but would like to know what exercises I could do at home to improve my abs. Can any of you recommend some beginner exercises.

Just lower your body fat. If your already lean/scrawny do some situps and put on some muscle than cut back.

Thanks... Can you suggest a way to lower my body fat? Sorry for all the questions, but hey I'm a noob.

Crunches, leg raises, flutter kicks, side crunches, leg raises. . . There's alot more you can do than just lower your bodyfat. Let me rephrase, there's alot more you should do than just lower your bodyfat, unless of course you already work your abs out. However, it doesn't sound like you're doing that yet. Try going to www.shapefit.com or www.exrx.net Both are excelent sites.

what rep range should you aim for when doing weighted ab work? because i've heard that you should just work them like any other muscles but also that they are mainly slow twitch fibres which will respond better to higher reps - so what do you guys normaly do?

Lots of sets with lots of reps. Also throw in a few sets with alot of weight and few reps for a mix-up.
