I want to bring some powdered milk with me to the gym for my post workout meal, but I don't know how to mix it. Do I just add water? The directions say to cool it for thirty minutes, do I need to do that?

I used to do this. You don't need to do anything special - Just mix the skim milk powder and whey (and anything else you add - eg: dextrose, powdered oats etc) in a shaker bottle then add water and shake it well.
