I'm actually in the process of bulking right now. But i do absolutely no cardio and i don't really like the fact that i get none in. Should i keep doing what i'm doing to bulk or should i slip some cardio in a few times a week?

I just don't want to loose weight. I want to gain it. I'm 6' at 171 lbs. and looking for 180 by July.

I do cardio year round, cutting fat or adding lean mass. You have to do quite a lot of cardio to really negatively affect your gains in muscle mass. Just make sure you're taking in enough calories to compensate for the additional calories you use to perform the cardio and you'll be fine.

How much cardio did you have in mind?

Well i workout 3-4 days a week. Usually do two muscle groups a day. I was thinking each day i go do maybe 20 minutes of cardio? Should i do it before or after weights though?

That sounds totally reasonable to me. I prefer to do cardio on days I don't lift, but 20 minutes of cardio after you lift is fine in my opinion.

15 minutes of cardio performed 3 times a week will be the minimum amount required to avoid over-training when bulking up.

That doesn't make any sense to me. I know that doing some light cardio can enhance recovery, but it is sort of hard to make a blanket statement like that for everyone. Also, when bulking up recovery is usually enhanced if you are eating a decent diet because you have nutrition to spare.

wouldn't other things factor into the equation as well....

current conditioning, type of cardio performed and intensity?

For example: 15 mins of high intensity....could equal 40 mins of low intensity.
But different cardio produces different EPOC's so I doubt it's as straight forward as any particular set interval and duration.

What IS straight forward is just doing what works. The only way to find that out is to set a plan and do it....most importantly, re-evaluate and adjust it after a couple of weeks.

So 15min 3 times a week, is a good place to start or even 20-25 min, 2 time/week for that matter. Whatever works.

20 mins/ day might not be a negative. Try it and see what happens....you could always eat more to offset extra cals burned if you start losing weight (and on a bulk eating more is either great or just more of a chore, depending on your view).

Yeah, I mean it is hard to quantify exactly how much cardio is too much cardio. However, I can safely say that for the vast majority of the population 20-30 minutes of cardio 2-3 times per week is nothing but beneficial.
