I was incorporating a posterior deltoid exercise or two on my push days, but...these are pulling workouts. Other than certain cable exercises, almost every workout for your post. del. is a pull yes? Well, I am sure there are others.

However, on say rows, how much are the deltoids worked? Lets say two different exercises for rows, 3-4 sets on each exercise. They getting hit or what?

I would answer your question with a question. Do you think the anterior delts are worked during the chest press?

Yes, and you can shift more of the emphasis to your rear delts by pulling with your upper arms perpendicular to your body and shifting the plane of movement from sagittal to transverse.

With all the workout programs people are posting, I see some of the exercises listed are rows and such. However, there is always someone saying "put some posterior deltoid work in."

So thats the basis of my ponderment. If you do rows, 2 exercises at least, would there be a NEED for additional post. deltoid work? If not on a push day, then a pull, etc...

Answering a question with a question is for politicians.

The reason I usually tell people that is because they are putting in additional work for their anterior deltoids and/or doing an inordinate amount of pressing compared to pulling. Also, most people have been doing imbalanced routines like this for so long that they should really be staggering their routines in the direction of their back muscles to help pull things back into balance. On top of that, because the posterior deltoid is an external rotator, and most people do everything internally rotated and have stronger internal rotators, I feel posterior delt work is a good way to help pull things back into balance in that respect as well. The rotator cuff muscles involved in external rotation also deserve some love in my opinion.

Ah. Balance. Gotcha. I guess its ok for me then, cuz I dont do anterior delt work other than the compound movements.
Thanks.
