Squats:
I find I can not do heavy weight without working up to it.
And I work my ass to get up what I do, good thing there are few guys in the gym when I do these cause I make some noise.
so since I cannot do a cold set of 300 to determine my max, I figure Im at like 330-340
this is not much greater than my bench max, and I think that just on principle of the movement it should be. Is my lower body just weak?
my max bench is 300
My squat sets today were:
135x8
225x6
255x6
275x4
300x4

It's very important not to try a max when you're cold. That's the easiest way to get an injury. You may find that doing some dynamic warm ups followed by bodyweight squats allows you to warm up with less reps on the actual squat exercise. You may find that you are able to work up to your max more quickly while still being adequately warmed up. While your lower body is certainly not weak, it is perhaps not as strong as is considered desirable in comparison to your upper body.

thats what Im concerned about, and I know there are no real definite answers for these types of questions...but for a guy with a 300 bench, what is a good weight to shoot for on a squat....and a deadlift for that matter?
I was thinking like 400, but I have no idea how practical that is.
I should add that Im 194 lbs, 10% bf, and 5'10"

For a 300lbs bench, I'd say around a 400-450 squat, and about a 450 deadlift would be about right.... Squat may be a little lower though, depends a lot on the person and their strengths/weaknesses.

i actuallly need lots of warm up sets to be able to squat near my max. for example this week i got 365x1 atg squat and my sets looked something like this.
empty bar x 12
135x8
185x5
225x3
275x3
315x1
335x1
365x1
the only set i counted as a working set was the last however, because the others were only warm ups, your problem is that your working too hard on your warmup sets and you are fatigued before you get to the strength work.
