Protein shake: everday??

I usually work out (with some weights) about 6 times a week, and do half an hour of cardio in the morning 4 days. I’ve been drinking a protein shake (2 scoops) after doing cardio. Should I be having a shake every day I do excersize? Or only the 4 days I do cardio? Should I have one on my day off?

I have a few shakes a day. Then again, I eat 9-10 times a day.

My post workout shake and pre workout meals both consist of some whey protein. I exercise 6-7 days per week, so I get a few scoops of whey in me each day.

Are you lifting weights 6 days per week? I advise against that. It is totally unecessary, and most likely counter-productive. You should post your routine in the training section.

no i do excersize like 6 times a week but only do weights about 3 or 4... i do pretty basic stuff i hope thats enough to build some muscle...

3 or 4 is perfect. I don't recommend more than that for anyone really. That's why I asked. Some people lift 6-7 days per week, but that's not really the best idea. You have to heal at some point too...

protein shakes are good, but there's no substitute for whole food. What are your goals?

I have a shake for breakfast every day. Nothing like a shot of protein, vitamins and minerals first thing in the morning.

I have whey after working out and caseine before I sleep. I try to eat as much "real" food as I can otherwise though. I would suggest supplementing with it every day.

I assume you have carbs with that meal after your workout?

go to www.nutrabio.com and pick up carbomax. Its a sugar made for post workout called maltodextrin. Use it RIGHT after your workout- a correct dosage is to multiply (your bodyweight) x (0.5) for maintaining your current bodyweight and to lean out, divide that in half. Take 1 to 2 scoops of whey with it.
An hour to an hour and a half, aeat a good carb meal. Like egg whites and oatmeal, or a whole grain sandwich with turkey and alittle cheese.
Dont worry about the carbs transferring to bodyfat, because it is this time period where the muscles suck up the sugar like crazy and use it to refill the glycogen stores and stop cortisol in its tracks.
